Separate Toilet 2.. Gas central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Travel cot and highchair. Large garden with extensive lawn, terrace, sitting-out area and garden furniture (shared with other properties on-site). Private parking for 6+ cars. No smoking. Please note: There is a pond at the bottom of the garden, 30 yards away.. Caldbec House is part of a large country house, set in a peaceful location, with far reaching views over the Abbey to the sea, but is but an easy walk to Battle town centre. The houses either side belong to the same owner and have long-term tenants.
The house is full of the owner’s antique furniture and paintings, and is in a great location for exploring the surrounding area, including Battle Abbey. The house is a mix of rustic and original features and furnishings from 1800 on, melded with modern additions and conveniences. It is both in town, fronting a side road, and overlooking the owner’s fields on both sides, and farmland to the south. Footpaths in all directions. From the moment you walk into the spacious cathedral-ceilinged hall, with its antiques and amazing traditional stairway, you feel an immense amount of character. Walk through the spacious kitchen, and you will find the tall ceilings continuing throughout, making this whole experience expansive. You will find everything needed for relaxing week in the countryside.
With ample gated parking for 6 cars right outside the property, there is no shortage of space both inside and out. The huge lounge/dining room is adorned with more of the owner’s paintings and antiques with plenty of relaxed seating, an airtight woodstove, and views to die for over the expansive garden. Move upstairs, and you will find five huge bedrooms, three bathrooms. Both main bedrooms at the rear of the rear of the property come with a balcony, giving some of the best vistas you will experience. There is a large lawned garden, not wholly fenced off from the neighbours, but with clear boundaries; more information is in the House room-by-room guide.
Caldbec House has been owned by the same family for many years, and this is very much apparent, as it is most definitely a home-from-home. It is believed to be where King Harold camped the night before he was killed in the Battle of Hastings on 14th October 1066. It is ideal for large family gatherings, with two other properties available on site;, it is located in one of the most beautiful parts of East Sussex. This rambling house is positioned on the edge of Battle, a small if world-famous historical town, and is in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
If you want to experience Sussex with all its history and antiquity, then Caldbec House really is the place to staycation, and make some amazing memories. Stunning views to wake up to, and at least five pubs within a mile or less.
