Whacky place
Magical place. You could go half way round the globe and not find something as way out as Dungeness. Pump House not cheap but everything absolutely top spec. I'd never go somewhere that's not at least as good as where I live?

A design masterpiece in Dungerness
We stayed at the Pump Station in Dungeness for a friend's birthday weekend, and it was an incredible experience. The attention to detail in the design is outstanding - everything from the lighting to the kitchen utensils has been thoughtfully chosen. The space has been maximized so well that five adults fit comfortably without feeling cramped. The only minor downside was the lighthouse foghorn keeping us awake on the first night, but that was just an unlucky coincidence and didn’t take away from the overall experience. We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be back! Highly recommend for a unique and beautifully designed getaway.

Lovely birthday celebration weekend
We had a lovely stay at the Pump Station. A beautiful and comfortable house in a gorgeous location. Top quality kitchen equipment. Ideal for a special weekend celebrating my husband’s 50th. The Snack Shack nearby provided us with several delicious lunches - highly recommend this too!

Amazing location and property for relaxing and getting away from everything
We loved our stay at the Pump House, a unique building furnished to a very high standard with everything you need. The fish shack just a short walk providing the daily catch and sourdough bread and local butter. Dungeness feels like another world, very beautiful and big sky’s

Great Base for Dungeness
Interesting building, beautifully designed and fitted out, and set within the wonderful Dungeness Estate. A great place to just switch off and relax. The usual excellent Bloom Stays customer service and property presentation standards.

The Pump House
A very cool place to stay. We loved Dungeness and we loved the property. It was very comfortable for our family of five, with beautiful pieces of furniture and very stylish decor. We will definitely consider returning. It would be great place to go in the middle of winter.

Beautiful!
Our second stay at Dungeness with Bloom, customer service is second to none, attentive and prompt. The property is easy to find, with parking available. The underfloor heating is wonderful, no need to use the fire! The living area is great as a social area, especially with no TV! There's a shower in one bathroom and a bath in the other. Beds were comfy. Dungeness is beautiful and there's loads to do, Derek Jarman's Prospect Cottage, Lighthouse, Port Lympne, the steam railway, sound mirrors, Martello towers, etc.

Luxury bunker at the end of England!
This house is amazing for a retreat away from the city. The location is incredible, in my opinion the power plant added the extra vibes to the stay and the proximity to the beach. The stay was lovely and I would 100% recommend it to anyone. The things to improve is the blinds in the master bedroom do not cover the whole window so the is a lot of sun in the morning and the fridge is was not very cold, although turned on to the max. All other appliances were superb! Thank you.

Other worldly
Out stay at Pump Station transported us to another world – both through its incredible location right on the shingle at Dungeness near to the two lighthouses, Prospect Cottage and the Fish Shack (delicious!) – and because of the wonderful architecture and history of Pump Station itself. We loved watching the light change and the hares run in the sea grass in the evening as we sat in the comfort of Pump Station's cosy living space. It was sunny enough to have breakfast out on the railway sleeper terrace amongst all the fascinating wildflowers and plants. During our stay we went on a fascinating tour of Prospect Cottage; went up the Old Lighthouse and enjoyed having dinner in Rye. We also visited two amazing churches – one with a marshmallow pink interior – the other in a spectacular setting in Romney Marsh. Bloom Stays were very prompt in answering my queries on making the booking and Pump Station was a fantastic place to stay.

Stunning house in the wilds of Dungeness
We had a fantastic stay at the Pump Station. The house is beautifully designed, clean, comfortable and warm. We loved the open plan living and the fireplace. We visited in the middle of January so the weather was wild and windy, which we loved. It was so atmospheric being in the house with the wind whistling outside but us warm and cosy inside. The location is excellent - 20 minutes walk to the Pilot Inn, 10 minutes from Derek Jarman’s garden, 5 minutes to the fresh fish shack. We walked to the power station and experienced landscapes never seen before - the wild sea whipping up waves and foam beside sheer shingle ridges dropping to the sea. Beautiful. The house was well equipped in the kitchen but could have done with some bins in the bathroom and a couple of waste paper baskets around the house. We also found the lights very difficult to use! All in all a wonderful place to stay in a truly unique part of the world. Thank you.

The Enchantment of Pump Station on a Dungeness Winter's Night
When we arrived at the Pump Station it was dark, the wind was howling and Dungenoness was truly on form with its renowned weather conditions, but something truly amazing happens when you open the large heavy glass front door to the building and step inside. An immediate feeling of welcome and comfort hit you in waves, as you take in the design, materials, layout and ambience of the lighting within which have been so carefully considered and designed. We had a very restful stay, celebrating Christmas Day and Boxing Day among friends and family. The walks are inspiring and if you are lucky to see the sun rise or set, then the big sky truly holds nothing back. Pump Station isn't for everyone. If your idea of a Christmas retreat involves fluffy slippers and country cottages, you might find the aesthetic a little too contemporary. But for those who appreciate beautiful design, beautiful materials, and a healthy dose of wild wind, it's an unforgettable experience. Just be sure to pack your walking boots and a camera – you'll need both to capture the essence of this extraordinary place.

6/10 Okay

Stunning location but infested and uncomfortable.
The location of the Pump Station is undeniably breathtaking and to wake up to the views across Britain's only dessert each morning is really fantastic. However, far more attention needs to be paid to this stunning property, especially for the prices that are now being charged. I’ve listed below some of the issues, points for improvement: We had at least two ant infestations during our stay, one of hundreds of flying ants! Both toilets don’t flush properly so after your ablutions, you can expect to spend at least as long flushing them away, if it’s even possible! The beds are terribly uncomfortable for the price of the accommodation. This really needs to be looked at. The property hadn’t been properly cleaned. Under the sofa was dirty and we found at least three plates/utensils in the kitchen that had been out away dirty. For the price of the stay (over £2.5k for 7 days, there really should be a welcome pack of essentials for your arrival. This is standard now in holidays let’s and often at far lower prices than this one. The shower floods when you have it on high speed and runs down the hallway to the bed room.

A Long Weekend in Dungeness
The accommodation worked very well for our group, the building has been converted in a sympathetic way and is furnished appropriately. Personally the absence of a TV in the building was preferred. We all came away thinking that we'd be happy to visit this place again.

Our stay at the Pump Station, Dungeness
Just had a fabulous week with friends and family in Dungeness, staying at the Pump House. Fabulously designed accommodation in a wild place that we absolutely loved. We enjoyed great walks around the area, including to theSound Mirrors in New Romney, Camber sands and Rye as well as a trip on the railway. Great food at the Fish shack, the Globe at Rye and the pilot, and the Britannia is a excellent spot for a sunset beer. We will be back.

Incredible house in an other-worldly location
The Pump Station is an incredible house, full of interesting and unusual character, it made for a completely unique stay. The house was very well equipped, particularly in the kitchen with absolutely everything you could need to cook in house. The location was great, just a few minutes walk to the beach and with incredible views over Dungeness peninsula and of the power station, making for an atmospheric location.

Inspired Conversion
An inspired adaptation of a utilitarian building, with a distinctive use of materials: brutalist concrete, wide oak boards and "Beuysian" felt curtains. Very well finished, with a fine and well stocked kitchen and elegant furnishings and fittings. And all in Dungeness's otherworldly setting

A unique and beautiful place
Dungeness is like a different world within easy driving of London. Felt like going abroad, very welcome during the pandemic, and the property is cleverly designed to make you feel sheltered but also part of the landscape. There’s no TV but we didn’t miss it instead chatting with friends around the fire. The design quality is top notch and very high spec; we’ll be going back I expect!
