Situated in the centre of Whitby with views over the habour, you are just a stroll away from the shops, bars and restaurants that can be found in the bustling streets of this town. Enjoy the views and walk to the Whale Bones, to the seaside, or stroll through the centre of town via the swing bridge.
Whitby has a 3km golden sandy beach which is perfect for all the family whether it’s catching crabs, exploring for fossils on the rocks or building sand castle replicas of the famous Whitby Abbey. Climb the 199 steps following the storyline of Bram Stokers ‘Dracula’ and the beast that is said to have raced up after the shipwreck. Whitby is famous for its fish and chips, but has an abundance of cafés, bars and restaurants to suit everyone. Whitby is host to an increasing number of popular festivals including the bi-annual Goth weekender, a regatta and steampunk events to name but a few, as well as a chance to explore the older East Cliff cobbled back streets and the famous 199 steps up to the Abbey and St Mary’s church.
On the doorstep you have the awe inspiring beauty of the North York Moors National Park which is perfect for walkers to explore, or take a trip into the heart of the moorland on board a steam train. There are waterfalls to explore, ‘olde worlde’ villages and some of the finest views in the country. Further afield you can visit the medieval walled town of York with its network of shops and bars, Jorvik Viking Centre and the National Railway Museum. Lightwater Valley and Flamingo Land theme parks are within easy reach, as are the many coves and villages dotted along the Yorkshire Heritage Coastline, many with links to explorer James Cook. Robin Hood’s Bay and Staithes are just two that have stories of old pirates and smuggling.
The train and bus station are just over the swing bridge a ten minute walk away.
There is a public car park immediately opposite and there is some free parking on Church Street.
Limited free 24hr parking is available on Church street again. There is a car park opposite the flat which is £9 for 24 hours.
There is also some free parking just off Church Street on Green Lane.
Further parking options can be found in the information file in the flat.
