About this property
Seathwaite Lodge - 3-Bed Cottage in the Duddon Valley. Pub nextdoor
Formally a banked barn, Seathwaite Lodge now occupies the gable end of the traditionally-built stone building. Situated in the Duddon Valley, one of the most spectacular valleys in the Lake District, nestling in the Coniston Fells with the River Duddon flowing through it, it's suited for walkers and mountain bikers who wish to enjoy the many paths and bridleways over the fells to Harter Fell, Dow Crag and Coniston Old Man or perhaps simply sit out on the patio and admire the abundant birdlife or bounding lambs in the springtime.
With three bedrooms and two bathrooms over the lower and middle floors and the large living, dining and kitchen area that spans the whole of the top floor, this Seathwaite cottage is perfect for families or groups of friends looking for a central base from which to explore the Lake District or perhaps take to the Fells. At the end of the day, settle for a few local ales and a good meal in the 16th-century pub, literally a stone's throw from your front door. The Newfield Inn serves a variety of local beers and ales, tea, coffee, scones and cakes as well as a full menu, including its famous steak pie. It also benefits from a large sunny beer garden and a children's play area, with views of the Lakeland Fells.
