About this property

Arisaig, Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk

A spacious, detached modern house, tucked away in Well-next-the-Sea at the top of a private drive in a peaceful location, enjoying both parking and a south facing garden, yet a mere five minute walk away from the heart of this charming, quintessential seaside town - one of the most popular holiday destinations with visitors to North Norfolk.

Arisaig, meaning 'the safe place' in Gaelic is well-named. This pleasantly presented house has a welcoming and calming overall feel. A great deal of thought has gone into providing a comfortable and well-equipped haven and base for holidaymakers who, once they find this lovely house, tend to return again and again, which really says it all. Downstairs there is a choice of two relaxing areas - a cosy sitting room with gas 'coal effect' fire to the front of the house and a sunny garden room which overlooks the south facing rear garden. In between the two, a generous-sized and well-equipped breakfast kitchen links through to the rear hallway where there is a handy utility area and shower room with a large walk-in shower - perfect for when you come in from the beach and want to rinse off sandy bodies and toes. On the first floor you will find three restful bedrooms (king-size, twin and large single), two with Smart televisions, along with a family bathroom that has both a bath and separate shower. A lockable garage is available, providing safe storage for bikes.

Wells-next-the-Sea is a quaint and very picturesque seaside town loved by visitors of all ages. If you want a stunningly beautiful sandy beach that stretches for miles and miles; maybe book one of the photogenic candy coloured beach huts; or just enjoy taking a seat to watch the world go by and the fishing boats come and go on the buzzing quayside; try your hand at crabbing and taste some of the freshest fish and chips and seafood around, it's all here for you. Take a leisurely meander on Staithe Street browsing the little shops and cafes that run from top to bottom, and maybe pop into the Arts Centre to see the latest pop-up art exhibition, and book a ticket for a film or theatre show while you are there. Walkers and cyclists will love exploring the coastal path and can stretch their legs a little further and visit nearby Holkham Hall with its beautiful deer park and lake. If you have the time and inclination to venture even further afield, step aboard the Coasthopper and let it take you there, taking in the beautiful scenery as you go.

Always a pleasure

We have stayed at Arisaig many times and have loved it. A real home from home. Conveniently located and well equipped.

Spacious & comfortable accommodation

Spacious, comfortable and well equipped, Arisaig provided a good base for our week’s holiday in North Norfolk. Quietly located about a 15 minute walk from the harbour, we particularly liked the light and well designed kitchen diner and conservatory.

Great location

Brilliant location, 5 mins walk into town. Lots of great walks on your doorstep without taking the car. Nice property with everything you need. The sun room is great for an afternoon drink. Ate at the local pub The Globe (everywhere was busy so I’d recommend booking in advance). The Chinese takeaway was a good option for eating in and only 10mins walk away

A perfect place to spend a holiday

A lovely cottage in a great location. Arisaig was clean, comfortable and very well equipped. So quiet and peaceful but close to the amenities of Wells and surrounding areas to explore. A perfect relaxing holiday.

Excellent accommodation

Lovely cottage in a peaceful road with 4 houses, a stones throw from the centre of Wells. I’ve never seen so much kitchen equipment - you really don’t need to bring much! Beds are very comfortable, and we are very picky about mattresses. Lots of space for the children to run around too. Would love to visit again

Good family break

The house was in just the right place for walking into Wells and for exploring the area by car. The house was ideal for 2 couples and a baby, with plenty of space to spread out. The garden room was a useful extra space but got very hot when the sun was out and would have benefitted from blinds. There was a lot more stuff in the house than we imagined there would be including a good selection of pots and pans, knives, cafetière, glasses as well as black bags, cleaning sponges and cloths, dishwasher tabs, olive oil, salt and pepper. There was a fridge freezer and a separate fridge. We arranged a Sainsbury delivery on our first night which was a good idea. Overall the house was clean but in the garden room the furniture had definitely not been moved to sweep beneath it. Also there were cobwebs in most corners of the house. Although we were advised moving in time was 4 pm the cleaners did not leave the house until 4.15 pm. We used the washing machine quite a lot; the washing line needs to be moved or the shrubs cut back because at present the 2 collide, which is not practical. After we left the property we realised we had left an item behind. When we made enquiries of Norfolk Holidays we were advised that any lost property, if located, costs £25 to return. As our item cost approximately £30 it was not worth us paying what we considered an excessive amount (if the item had been found). In summary the facilities and location were good the attendant services and follow up we’re not up to par.

An Excellent Property

Arisaig is an excellent choice for staying in Wells-next-the-Sea. It is well located away from the busy tourist areas, yet within a 10 minute walk of the quayside area. The house comprises excellent accommodation with three double bedrooms and great living space downstairs, including a cloakroom and a shower room. The decor is to a very high standard and the whole house is tastefully and comfortably furnished. The kitchen is extremely well equipped, with every possible electrical appliance and there are more than enough items of crockery and cutlery, as well as glasses, for a full complement of 6 persons staying there. The whole house was spotlessly clean, with good quality bedding and towels. There is ample off-road parking for 3 cars and the location of the house in a small close means that it is quiet at all times. Overall, we would strongly recommend this property to anyone contemplating a stay in the Wells area.

Great find

We feel lucky to have found this wonderful house for our family holiday. It was sparklingly clean and fresh with just about everything you needed, the owners have put a lot of thought and effort into providing little touches like a torch so the key safe could be seen if arriving in the dark. The kitchen diner is very well equipped with a dishwasher with tablets provided. The house is spacious for a family and in a great location, just a few minutes walk to the shops and quay, which meant we didn’t have to use the car on some days. Having a washing machine and a lovely garden and sun room was much appreciated. Overall Arisaig is a holiday home from home, we thoroughly recommend this house and would like to return at some point.
