Whilst at Trehanoo you could holiday for the week and never get in your car. The house and annexe are a 7 minute walk to Polzeath beach and the same to the coast path. From the coast path you can either walk the pretty way to the surfing beach of Polzeath, or head towards Greenaway (a 10 minutes walk), Daymer (a 15 minute walk) or Rock (a 45 minute walk).
Polzeath has a great Spar shop and offers fish and chips, pasties, pizza and ice cream as well as some great surf and clothing shops and a gallery.
Greenaway is a wonderful place for rock pooling when the tide is out and the hours just drift past as you become totally absorbed in shrimping, crabbing and fishing.
Daymer Bay has a large car park that is very reasonable to park in all day and is sandcastle heaven and one of the best windsurfing/kite surfing spots in the country. At low water it has a vast beach.
Rock beach has several pubs/restaurants with wonderful views over the Camel estuary, great shops and also has sailing and a sailing/ powerboat school, water skiing and a waterski school, fishing trips and the ferry to Padstow.
There are also 2 golf courses within 2 miles of Trehanoo, St Enedoc and The Point at Polzeath (ex Roserrow).

About the host
Hosted by Kate Buckingham

I have been going to Polzeath since I was a baby. I absolutely love it, as soon as you get out of the car and take a lung full of sea air all is right with the world.
Why they chose this property
Trehanoo house and annexe are our family holiday home and as such we keep it set up for ease of use when on holiday. We endeavour to keep everything in working in order. We spend a month in the winter there ourselves, decorating, updating and adding to the comfort and ease of having a great holiday in the house. I ask for feedback from tenants and, where possible, include them in next year’s update. Any problems are dealt with as soon as possible by either myself or Jackie the housekeeper.
It is simple but comfortable, I like a comfortable bed, with a feather duvet and pillows and a comfortable sofa so that's what we have. I like things to work easily so it is all furnished and laid out with that in mind. Normally there is plenty of cooking equipment but it has been minimised to enable cleaning at changeovers during Covid. The sitting room has games, puzzles, DVDs, Videos and books. (Although these have all been put away during Covid)
The views are great being on a hill and it is always bright inside, you can see for miles.

What makes this property unique
The house has a hot outdoor shower which is a joy when you arrive back from a surf; you can rinse your wetsuit off whilst still in it and peel it off whilst under the hot water and then hang it up on the purpose made wetsuit rack. Then quickly into the house for a proper shower in the wet room.
The annexe does not have an outdoor shower but it does have its own wetsuit rack.
