Tucked away in a quiet corner of the olde worlde, picturesque village of Langthwaite is Copley House, a traditional stone-built dales cottage and superb holiday home. Situated next to the babbling Arkle Beck and surrounded by the rugged and varied landscape of Arkengarthdale. Copley House is in an ideal location for any nature or outdoor enthusiast. It is also conveniently only a stone’s throw from the infamous Red Lion Pub which most will recognise from the opening scenes of the original All Creatures Great and Small.
The ground floor has recently been refurbished to a very high standard and now offers a stunning, modern, and spacious open plan living area. It is quite striking how delightfully bright and cheerful the living area is with large, double glazed windows allowing in lots of light. This with the addition of a mix of contemporary and traditional furnishings provides a very tranquil and peaceful setting to enjoy a restful holiday in the Yorkshire Dales.
The kitchen is fully equipped with all you should require during your stay with plenty of storage space and worksurface. There is a fridge, freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer and dining table suitable for 4 people. The living space offers comfortable seating for 4 people around the wonderful wood burner, perfect to curl up in front of on cooler evenings. The cottage is heated throughout with oil central heating and benefits from free WiFi, flat screen TV and a skybox with freeview channels. Upstairs sleeps 2 people, one double bedroom, with traditional beams plus a family bathroom.
Outside there is a small, enclosed patio area.
There are endless footpaths and bridleways straight from the door. From gentle low-level walks along the Arkle Beck to Reeth to higher more challenging hikes up Fremington Edge and Calver Hill. The area is also hugely popular for cycling with so many routes to choose from either on or off road. There is also bike hire available locally in Grinton at the Dales Bike Centre and the Swale Trail, which is a purpose-built off-road bike trail for families with young children who wish to ride together or perhaps have a pushchair or maybe limited mobility.
Langthwaite is an ideal base to explore the local area. Only 3 miles from the popular village of Reeth, that boasts many amenities such as pubs, restaurant, cafes, ice cream parlour, post office and gift shops. The highest pub in England is, The Tan Hill, which is only 8 miles away and certainly worth a visit. From Langthwaite you can also gain easy access to Barnard Castle, where you can visit attractions such as the Bowes Museum. Richmond is a Georgian market town with several attractions to visit such as the historic Georgian theatre, castle and Ellerton Abbey. Leyburn and Hawes are also popular market towns offering further amenities, pubs, cafes, supermarkets, restaurants. Hawes houses museums including the Wensleydale Creamery, Rope Makers and nearby is Middleham and Bolton Castle and the Forbidden Corner.
To ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible all bed linen and towels are provided and the electric and oil is included in the rental price.

Getting there
Use the postcode DL11 6RE to reach Langthwaite. When you reach Langthwaite via the Arkengarthdale Road you shall see a sign for the Red Lion pub on the opposite side of the road of the Village Green. This narrow road takes you over a small bridge with the Red Lion pub on the left. Once over the bridge turn right, Copley House is in the far right corner of this area, close the the Arkle Beck.
There is parking for one car beside the outhouse of the cottage. Further parking on a first come first served basis is in the small car parking area opposite the pub.
