Off road parking for 3 cars.. Arden Cottage in the heart of Galloway is the perfect getaway to explore this undiscovered but accessible corner of Scotland. The cottage is beautifully appointed with every comfort designed to make your stay as comfortable and cosy as possible. Twynholm is well located for exploring the area which really does have something to suit every taste whatever age. The village was home to Formula One Driver David Coulthard. The Chocolate Factory is just down the road producing hand crafted chocolates. They offer workshops to adults and children where you can immerse yourself in sheer chocolate heaven!
There are indoor and outdoor play areas The area is becoming popular with mountain bikers as we host the 7Stanes which offers seriously challenging and world renowned biking at various stunning venues across the region. For those who like less challenging cycling we have mile after mile of quiet sleepy roads edged by colourful hedgerows. Laggan Outdoor are hosts to the UK’s longest zip wire spanning 820 metres. Situated in Castle Douglas this fantastic outdoor adventure centre is within easy reach of Arden Cottage providing activites such as mountain biking, grass sledging and clay pigeon shooting!
Everywhere you look you will see evidence of our temperate climate, from exotic gardens displaying plants from the South Seas, to flourishing palm trees. Dumfries and Galloway is home to a myriad of amazing birds that make the Solway their home after their flights from the frozen north and the RSPB site at Mersehead is one of the best sites to watch them. For golfers there is a choice of around 30 courses across the country from Championship courses to beautiful courses by the sea.
