Here are our favourite places to eat and drink in the area -
THE VAULT
This is actually situated in the same building as the accommodation you are staying in. With a cocktail bar underneath and a fine dining restaurant on the groundfloor this place has you covered for whatever you’re after. It was opened in 2020 and has been a massive hit with the town. This is the most upmarket restaurant in the area and the one we would most recommend for you to visit.
THE NEW INN
Previously known as “The White Heart” this upmarket country pub serves the very best home cooked ‘pub grub’ around aswell as serving cask ales, being dog friendly and the finest cocktails.
THE SPENCERS ARMS CAWTHORNE
An 18th century pub with an updated interior and an open fire. Serving a modern British gastro menu. This is the only place that isn’t walking distance and is about a 4 mile drive. Great place to take the weight off after a long country walk.
THE BRIDGE
Down the road next door to The New Inn you will find ‘the bridge’. Known mostly for its cheap lager during the daytime on happy hour, this place is somewhere to swing by to by for a couple of pints and catch the football on one of their 10 large television screens.
THE OLD CROWN
This is an old fashioned ‘ale house’. With tarten carpets, real ales, a juke box and plenty of gin’s and spirits theres plenty of drinks to sample but unfortunately they don’t do food. This is the sort of place to go to experience a proper Yorkshire mans pub, where the locals come to frequent after a hard day of graft and enjoy a well earnt pint.
Getting Around:
Penistone has regular bus routes with a stop just outside the property, a train station 5 minutes walk away to commute to nearby cities Sheffield, Leeds, Barnsley, Huddersfield and Manchester. Various taxi services also available

No smoking
