This vacation rental has 3 spacious bedrooms, 2 upstairs and a fantastic master suite downstairs. All bedrooms have queen size beds. There are two full bathrooms as well as a cozy powder room beneath the stairs. There is also a comfortable queen size sleeper sofa in the living area for 2 additional people. This house will sleep 8 comfortably.. This part of the home has approximately 2100 square feet, fully appointed kitchen with new stainless steel appliances and a large capacity washer and dryer.

The star of this home is the 1800 square foot tropical oasis back yard with its sparkling water pool (pool can be heated up to 90 degrees in the winter time upon request for an additional cost) and a hot tub/ spa (NO additional charges for heating the hot tub year-round), outdoor seating, state of the art outdoor entertainment system with several all weather televisions that can be viewed from any angle of the pool or yard. Guest access
You will have complete and private access to the home and backyard with the exception of a few locked closets and a private efficiency where I stay when my home is rented. I enter the efficiency from a different location then the main house so you will probably never see me unless you need help. :-) The main house and backyard is all yours and completely private. The pool pump and heater will also be locked, but someone will be available to heat the pool prior to your arrival for an additional cost. The front door and alarm will have a punch code access unique to your group and changed for every guest, so no keys are required! Neighborhood overview
The Uptown and Magazine Street areas are some of the most popular and historic neighborhoods in the city. It's close proximity (1 block away), from the Garden District, the wealthiest part of the city and home to celebrities such as Beyonce, Sandra Bullock, John Goodman, and Archie Manning, make it a fantastic jumping off point to explore the city. Less than a block away is bustling Magazine street where you can find some of the best and most famous restaurants, bars, and shops in the city. There is a supermarket and drug store 1 block away, as well as famous bars and restaurants such as The Bulldog, Balcony Bar, Rum House, Ignatius, Dat Dog, Slim Goodie's, Mahoney's Po-Boys, and Commander's Palace all within easy walking distance. Visit the Magazine Street website for more details on this neighborhood. Search the Web for Magazine Street for details. (URL HIDDEN)

Getting around
Navigating this city from here is very easy and convenient with or without a car. There are a ton of things to do and see within easy walking distance of the house including Magazine Street, The Garden District, and The historic Lafayette Cemetery No 1. The Magazine street bus line which goes from the French Quarter all the way up past Audubon Park and the Zoo is just a block away. About 5 blocks away is the historic and iconic St Charles Street Car line. If you prefer, Uber is usually less than a $10 ride to the French Quarter, and cabs can be gotten fairly easily on Magazine street as well. There is usually plenty of street parking near the house if you prefer to drive.

Other things to note
There is plenty of street parking usually, except for a few special events that are held from time to time in the area. I've never had to park more than a block away and can almost always find a spot right on my street. This is a popular residential as well as shopping, restaurant and bar area, that is one of the safer areas in the city, but like all big metropolitan areas, use some common sense. Keep your vehicle locked and valuables out of site, lock the door when you leave, etc.

Mother/ daughter

Great property. The pool wasn’t working so Gary had the pool guy the following morning. The tech who had come before us had left the service in service mode. It was fixed as soon as he came. We did however see a mouse which is nobody’s fault but just thought I would let you know. Great trip and so close to bars, good food and groceries if needed. We could walk to all of these. My second stay and will probably be back.

Beautiful home. Don’t need to bring a thing.

My sisters and I take my mother on a trip somewhere every year. This year we picked New Orleans. We stayed at Gary’s beautiful home and you don’t want for anything. Close enough to walk to bars and bistros. We loved the pool and just had a wonderful experience. My mother came here on her senior trip when she was 18. We brought her back at 81. We had a blast. Couldn’t have found a nicer place to stay. Never felt unsafe and slept like a baby. Just enjoyed the home and relaxed. I highly recommend you check it out for your next stay in New Orleans. We would love to come back. Thanks Gary for sharing your home.

Such a wonderful place to stay!

We just wrapped up a long weekend in Nola and loved staying at the uptown tropical oasis! It truly was an oasis. The pool is beautiful, with complete set up for relaxing outside. The house is really fun with lots of New Orleans kitsch and character. The location is also a plus. Magazine Street is right around the corner with plenty of fun shops and great restaurants. Plus, the added convenience of a grocery store and drug store, a very short walk from the house. The house was very clean and comfortable. Wouldn't change a thing and hope to stay there again soon :)

Gary is a terrific host. Helpful and flexible.

The house was perfect for 8 of us who stayed 11 days. Plenty of great sheets and towels. A well stocked kitchen and of course the most amazing pool and hot tub! Plenty of room for common meals and hanging out. Also state of the art sound systems and amazing t.v.s everywhere. We loved it and plan to return !

A little slice of paradise!

New Orleans was packed with activity and people. I enjoyed seeing the sites but by the end of the day, I was tired of traffic and crowds. This home was the perfect spot! From the moment we stepped inside, it was so relaxing and quiet - our own little slice of paradise! The house is beautiful and it was very well equipped to maximize our comfort. I cannot explain how quiet and secluded you feel once you step inside the house. We spent alot of time sitting by the pool and the quietness amazed me! The pool is surrounded by plants and palm trees so you cannot really see the neighboring homes. It does feel like your own tropical oasis! Magazine street is only one block away and there are shops, boutiques, Walgreens, bars and restaurants all within walking distance. We had some amazing food and purchased some shrimp packed in dry ice to take home with us. I probably would not have stopped to buy ice cream from a vendor but there were alot of people in line so I had to see what was going on. Watching the vendor make the ice cream was quite entertaining and the ice cream was delicious! If you are near Dats Dogs, check it out. I feel like a kid writing a review about ice cream with all of the wonderful restaurants in New Orleans but it was that good! Gary was wonderful - he quickly responded to questions. It was a wonderful home and if I am ever in New Orleans again, I will definitely stay here! Five Stars!!!

Great location. Excellent hospitality. Beautiful Home.

Gary was wonderful to work with. The house is beautiful and in an excellent location to walk to restaurants, bars, and grocery stores. The most loved part of the home is the gorgeous backyard with pools, outdoor tv's, and plenty of space to relax and entertain. Gary has the house stocked with everything you need for a relaxing vacation or nice get together with friends. Will definitely recommend to others and hope to stay again soon. Great value.

A beautiful little oasis.

We stayed here over 4th of July. It was amazing. Everything you could possibly need or want in a place. Beautiful pool, a bar inside and out, a great sound system that you can hookup to your phone or comp and a hot tub which heats up super fast. A well stocked kitchen with tons of quirky serving bowls to set out for a pretty display and tons of character through out the house with fun art pieces everywhere you turn. Comfy beds with blackout drapes in case you want to sleep in late. And it's only a block away from my favorite resturants and bars on magazine street. There's even a grocery store 1 blk away. The host was easy to communicate with and responded quickly to any question I had. Overall, this place is gem. I diffently will be coming back.

Hello and welcome to my vacation rental. I recently retired after 30 years in education and I am ready to explore the world. I am also excited to share my home with others that want to explore our unique city of New Orleans. I am a native of Louisiana. I was borne and raised on Bayou Lafourche which is about 45 miles southwest of New Orleans. I am a true Cajun. :-)

Why they chose this property

My home was design as a place for comfort and fun. I've had my share of socials and parties here. I am excited that I can share my home through respectable sites like Home Away, VRBO and AirBnB with others as I venture out to explore many areas of our world. I will be using these same sites to find temporary places to live in lots of areas around our planet.

What makes this property unique

Once in my home, I think you will fell its welcoming and fun vibe.
