If you’re looking for a romantic retreat in Whitby, Starboard Bow is a welcoming one bedroom apartment overlooking the dock area. Just a short 10-minute walk from the bustling town centre where you’ll find many restaurants, cafes, shops and bars, you’ll be perfectly placed to enjoy a staycation on the coast.
The Space:
Starboard Bow has an open plan living and dining area where you can relax during your stay. Featuring a tan leather sofa, a matching armchair with a leather chair and a new Samsung 50" smart TV, you can cosy up here after a busy day exploring Whitby. The dining area includes a round table with four matching chairs
Fully equipped, the kitchen has everything you could need to make the most of your self-catering stay. With modern appliances and cookware provided, you’ll be able to prepare meals easily.
Head to the bedrooms and you’ll find a comfortable space. The first bedroom boasts a king size bed, premium bedding and views of Whitby Harbour, you’ll instantly feel relaxed here. Velvet statement chairs and bedside tables complete the space. The second bedroom is fitted with a superking-size bed.
The bathroom includes a bathtub with an overhead shower, WC and basin.
Outside you’ll find a communal garden with two park benches overlooking the harbourside.

Guests have access to the full apartment.
The keys to Starboard Bow are accessed via a secure key safe and full details will be provided shortly before your arrival date.
There is free on-site parking for one vehicle in a locked and gated garage.
One well-behaved dog is welcome to stay at Starboard Bow per reservation. Please note that no extra large dogs are permitted to stay.
Children over 14 are welcome but categorically no younger (this is due to sash windows and 3rd floor).
The Neighborhood:
Starboard Bow sits along the River Esk in the dock area.
Walk along Church Street and you’ll wind up at the East bank where you’ll find narrow medieval streets dotted with boutiques, pubs and fish restaurants. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary. You can also discover the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’.
Walk over the swing bridge which sits over the River Esk and you’ll find yourself at the West side of town. It’s here you can discover cosy pubs, fun arcades and even more fish restaurants! Continue along the lively road until you reach the beautiful, blue flag West Cliff Beach which is lined with idyllic beach huts.
Step outside of Whitby and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland. Whitby forms part of the North York Moors National Park so it’s the perfect place for long walks.
Getting Around:
The centre of Whitby is a short ten-minute walk from Starboard Bow.
Whitby train station is less than a mile away so villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast can easily be reached via rail. There’s also a taxi rank in close proximity to the train station.
There are plenty of bus routes throughout Whitby. Hop on the X4 and you can visit beautiful coastal villages like Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes. The X93 travels along the coast to Scarborough. The 95 route features plenty of quaint villages, such as Grosmont and Lealholm.
