About this property

Located in beautiful Salishan, a gated community, watch Siletz Bay tides through picture windows in a designer kitchen or ocean breakers upstairs from the living room picture windows. Whether watching bay or ocean, Spouting Whale has a setting unlike any other on the central coast.
Honduran maple floors, black soap stone counters, and Northwest Cherry doors and trim highlight Spouting Whale's efficient layout: master on the main with a king-sized bed and two bedrooms downstairs with two queen-sized beds, all rooms have private deck space, and impressive bay views. There is also a couch queen sleeper (gel memory foam) off the family room with a private curtain that easily pulls across for a bit of privacy. Walk a few steps up to the living room to enjoy a fire and overlook the ocean breakers. A complete chef's kitchen will please gourmets and the coffee-needy with a corner overlooking the bay. Downstairs opens to a large family room with a 44" flat screen TV and a library/toy area for the smaller set. Salishan is one of the most private and beautiful nature areas on the central coast with great restaurants, activities and some of the best hiking trails, too. Activities include tennis courts, Spa, 18-hole golf course meandering through old-growth forest and ocean views, swimming in the community center pool (in summer) and walks to a seal and sea lion sanctuary at the end of the Salishan spit. Also of note is a vibrant art scene through Sitka Center for Art and Ecology, Lincoln City glass blowers and art galleries, manufacturer outlet shops and the Chinook Winds casino for entertainment. Salishan Lodge is available for your entertainment and offers dining as well as one of the most extensive wine lists on the Oregon Coast.

Relaxing time at the coast.

Beautiful with gorgeous views overlooking the Bay. Short walk to the beach. Cozy family house. Kitchen well supplied with every convenience. Very comfortable.

Perfect vacation

A vacation dream home! My family had such a wonderful time. The views from this home including the ocean and the bay are beautiful. This was our third time staying at Salishan. This home was outstanding and our favorite by far. Thanks to our hosts. We can’t wait to come back!

Fabulous relaxing vacation at the beach

Beautiful 3 bedroom house with every thoughtful amenity available. A short walk to the beach access, a short drive to the end of the Spit where seals and sea lions bask on the sand. Lots of tennis available and the golf course looks beautiful. Many shops and restaurants within a few minutes drive. A truly wonderful place to stay.

A wonderful retreat from the busyness of life

My family of 6 had a wonderful stay this summer at this property. It is very clean and has all the amenities one could need --the kitchen is fully stocked, there are beach toys, golf clubs, and binoculars for bird watching. Gleneden Beach is a beautiful beach that is very secluded. We found many shells and agates. The hosts were very friendly and responsive to all of my questions. I hope we have a chance to come visit Salishan in the future. I can't imagine finding a better rental in this fabulous location. Thanks for having us!

Excellent beach house, so much fun!!!!!!!!

Our trip was amazing, this house is a 'Home Away From Home' style house that is completely updated throughout and offers a cozy, family friendly space. The kitchen was a joy to work in, well stocked with quality utensils I wish we had in our own home. The massive island is roomy enough for a group to cook together and not feel cramped. The enormous kitchen window overlooks the Siletz Bay, an amazing view anytime of day. I highly recommend this house for any occasion. A quick drive or long walk to the end of the main road lands you in a seal sanctuary. Such a great experience, we'll be back.

We love travel and use VRBO often. We work in Portland and love cooking, hiking, kayaking, camping, gardening and reading as well as being involved in many community endeavors.

Why they chose this property

We love nature and so the coast is a special place to us, especially the Siletz Bay National Wildlife Refuge. We used to take our children to the Salishan Lodge and always delighted in watching the seals/sea lions play on the spit and the beauty of this natural and less crowded area. There is an abundance of wildlife from superb bird watching, deer and coyotes, sea lions, seals, whales and clamming in the bay and crabbing beyond the fishing and of course boating. So much to do in Lincoln City and you are close to Newport with the aquarium and other science centers. Restaurants in the area are also excellent. The Peter Jacobson 18 championship golf course is always a draw to us as well!

What makes this property unique

The organic feel of this home with the natural stones and woods are so beautiful and you feel instantly relaxed. The views are ever changing over the bay, simply stunning. The living room with its circular couch and real wood burning fireplace (gas starter) will feel so yummy especially if you are lucky enough to have a coastal storm. The extra family room downstairs gives everyone privacy and space. The bedrooms are far apart and there are nooks for all.
