About this property

Nature Haven - a forest sanctuary

While the Nature Haven appears to be a simple semi detached house on an average street, the views of the garden, trees and sky that are revealed once you enter transport you into another world. Simple accommodation with wooden floors is complemented by the verdant house plants which live inside, and the beautiful garden outside. In the summer the door opens out onto the three levelled deck as the perfect inner and outer experience. In the winter the open fire and bright space make it cosy and inspiring all year round. A perfect sanctuary where peace, calm and contemplation are readily available. The garden has a year round vegetable garden which you can eat from. While the Haven provides a sense of retreat, you are firmly within the neighbourhood of Forest Row and can reach the village and forest within minutes.

About the host

I am a yoga practitioner, teacher, artist and gardener. These activities all help me curate this nurturing space at the gateway of the Ashdown Forest in Forest Row.

Why they chose this property

The Nature Haven is close to the centre of Forest Row, near to the forest, and to Emerson College. Gatwick Airport is 30 minutes away. It is a relaxing and aesthetically designed space, where it is possible to work and be close to amenities, and yet be able to tune into the slower rhythm that nature contemplation provides.
The garden is dedicated to growing food and herbs as well as flowers, and you can eat from the produce in the garden; though you may be required to water the plants at certain times of year. Inside the house, a whole array of house plants keep natural feel to this simple and organised space. There is no television here, but the widescreen vista of sky, trees, birds and plants can prove to be more compelling than any other channel.

What makes this property unique

The unique benefits are staying in a space set up for guests, with the touch of a real home. The location of the property is very good for accessing the village, and yet it is peaceful and restful, within a very friendly neighbourhood. The sun beams into the house from sunrise and swings around the front of the house in the afternoon. The open deck is stunning and the view and aspect, mesmerising. This is a place for nature lovers, who appreciate a quiet and cosy hideaway. A spacious dining table looks out onto the garden and surrounding view, for memorable meals and gatherings.
