We also got a special treat of seeing a bear in the neighbors yard! It was nature at its finest in a very luxurious house. There was even gaming tables to play when it rains. Would definitely go back!

Of course the smores and time around the fire pit was wonderful as well. Looking forward to next year for sure!

Our family stayed at this cabin this past week, it's very spacious, clean, and modern. Megan thought of everything.

Fishing was great and we got to watch eagles fly by every day. Even the dog had a great time. Grandkids had so much fun kayaking, fishing, and just playing outside in the back yard.

Balsam Fir On the Lake it was awesome!

It was my wife myself and my 24-year-old son. And our two golden retrievers. And We had an awesome experience! The place was everything we hope for, and more! The house was great, The backyard going into the lake was awesome, the pontoon was perfect. We used it a lot. And the fire pit was perfect. We will definitely be going back! And thank you!

Annual 4th of July Trip

Perfect for family getaway

The Balsam Fir cabin was exactly what our family was looking for. We were able to stay a few relaxing days in the middle of our driving vacation while we hit the states surrounding Lake Michigan. We have done several VRBO's through the years across the country, but we have never had better communication anywhere. From the prearrival emails, to the info packets in the cabin, to the big board of everything when you walk in, all possible questions and scenarios were answered. We are a family of 5, kids ages 13 - 21, so the cabin was the perfect size for us. Everyone had their own space, but more importantly, there were great spaces for us all to be together. The weather threw us a bit of a curveball so we didn't get to spend as much time out on the lake as we would have liked, but when we did get out it was awesome. Be sure and rent the pontoon, it is worth it. Only regret is that we didn't have more time to spend there. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely stay at Balsam Fir.

Great Get-A-Way

Megan is an awesome host. She is very responsive to any questions You might have. We left some items at the house and Megan had them on the way to our house before we even made it home. We spent the week fishing, boating, and exploring the are. The game room is an awesome addition and kept us busy when the weather didn’t cooperate. We had a great time and would recommend this property.

Mom's annual getaway weekend

Nice Property comfortable beds. We book a Mom's annual getaway every year most the time on Balsam lake. We have a Giant inflatable raft we like to sit and relax on and this is a great place to do that. It fit our group Great. A few things to know would be . there is Wifi but No cell reception, and the property manager stops by or someone does to clean up the property and gas the boat. ( not sure why this isn't done before guests arrive) She did text to make us aware she was coming but unfortunately I did not receive that text due to not having cell reception. so we were caught off when people just arrive. there were not blinds on the back door and one of us girls was just getting out of the shower and was in a towel - we all Kinda felt uncomfortable. The house does provide towels to shower with , but bring your own outside Beach towels those are not provided so bring your own. We enjoyed our stay , clean , organized had everything to get through our weekend.

Beautiful cabin, great setting

First, Megan is really on top of it!! She did a wonderful job communicating the details of the checkin/out process and has made up brochures with many great items including things to do, rules, contact info and descriptions of the lake and surrounding area. I’ve stayed at quite a few Vrbos and this was by far the best experience. We plan on coming back. Thank you Megan for helping create wonderful memories with my family.

Quick getaway

Stayed here in the winter to check the place out for a summer vacation. We enjoyed it more than expected, lots of little extras we haven't found at other cabins like soaps in the bathrooms, lots DVD's, wood for the fireplace, charcoal for the grill, extra blankets, nice towels and soft sheets. Loved the arcade game and pool table too. We will be back, thank you.

Super Fun Cabin

Stayed here in January for a winter weekend away with friends and to check out the cabin for summer rentals. Loved the little extras that made it feel like a home more than a "cabin". Wifi, king beds that are comfortable, smart TV's that we could log into and watch Amazon movies and all the little extras in the kitchen like coffee and a gift basket is what we liked. The game room was awesome, we spent a lot of time playing the arcade and pool table. Will be looking to come back in the summer.

Very quiet location!

We were very surprised at how quiet the location is for only being an hour from Woodbury. We loved all the little extra touches like the gift basket, snack set up, soaps and extra towels. Very well done cabin. The area is fun and we found a new brewery restaurant. Our favorite thing about the cabin was the game room it has a pool table, big tv, a sauna (unexpected treat) and a arcade machine. Thank you!

Great vacation

Our family of 8 came up to Balsam Lake for a long weekend away. The cabin was newer and nicer than expected, I love the new photos. We were a bit worried that the lake would be busy because the cabin is so close to Woodbury were we are from but it wasn't it was perfect. The cabin was private and set in woods unlike man cabins we've stayed at before. Megan was very kind, giving us her cell number, checking in and sharing her favorite places to eat. We already booked again for next summer. Boy this cabin books up fast. Thank you. The ludwigs

Wonderful hospitality and charming home

Very clean, many amenities, and the convenience of a pontoon on site is awesome. Our kids loved the little pond on site. They were excited by the frogs and tadpoles. The owner was responsive and checked in after a storm to ensure we had power.

Amazing Family Vacation

Where do I start? Our family rented this cabin for our annual vacation. Megan made the process easy and was always quick to answer questions. I emailed her a number of times asking for places to eat, where to get bait, questions with the ATV rules and every time answered quickly. Thank you! The yard is amazing. It was on a lake with a number of cabins but we had trees between us and the next cabins so it was quit private. The yard is nice and flat and the shoreline had nice clean rocks for a step into the lake it wasn't weedy. We had a 3 and 4 YO with us for vacation so swimming was important. While there was no sandy beach the water was clear and there were no weeds off the shore. Our nieces swap for hours each day digging in the lake bottom for shells etc. Two of the men in our group are avid fishermen, they were so happy that they got to reel in a 28" northern that they caught off the pontoon. The pontoon was well worth the money as the men fished mornings and evenings and the ladies took it out onto the lake to swim and float during the day. The cabin was very clean and we had lots of room for the group. We loved the new large dining table with booth seating for the kids in our group. We also liked that there were two full kitchens one up and one down each family has their own living space. King beds were another great part of the cabin, two of the three bedrooms had king sized beds. The cabin is well loved and kept up nicely. We are very excited we booked our stay for next summer while still at the cabin. Thank you again Megan for being a great host.

Fun Times

Fun Times! We rented the cabin in June for a family trip. The yard by the lake is flat and pretty big. We spend most of our time in the yard playing bags while the kids swam by the shore. We brought our dog who spend most of her time in the water too. The was bigger than most cabins we've rented and clean which was cool. Spent a couple of days on the lake on the pontoon. Between the large house, big yard and pontoon we had a blast. Looking to stay again next summer.

Awesome Early Summer Getaway

Our family of 6 rented the cabin and pontoon for an early summer weekend to celebrate the ending of the school year. The cabin was much bigger than expected and the owners had recently completed a remodel of the basement that was really well done, (I want the deer art work that is above the kitchen sink). We really enjoyed the cabin it was clean and large enough for our group. We fished off of the pontoon during the day, used the fish cleaning station that was included with the cabin and spent the evenings enjoying a fire in the fire pit that is located right by the water. The yard is quit large and flat compared to other cabins we've rented which we really liked as well. The adults enjoyed the main level living room in the evenings, we sat out on the large deck that overlooks the lake and felt at home, our teens enjoyed the lower level family room, TV and second kitchen. With the cabin and pontoon we really felt this was a great value and will be back, I only wish they had openings for this summer guess we will wait for next summer. Thank you again!

Such of fun Birthday weekend with our kids

We took two families with kids up for a Birthday weekend. The newly remodeled cabin is SO cute. I love the extra touches like snacks left out, towels with little shampoo bottles on all the beds and a thank you card. My favorite touch was the french press for my morning coffee. The cabin is a great size too, with a living room on both levels the adults would sit up stairs chatting and the kids enjoyed the lower lever family room. I also LOVED that there are electric fireplaces in both living rooms with options to keep the heat off, we had young kids that wanted them on but I was able to keep the heat off for safety. The kids made a nest in the family room in front of their fireplace and watched netflix in the evenings. The cabin was super clean and we loved having three bathrooms with the 8 of us. The owner Megan also gave us local recommendations for places to eat and we tried one out. It was great, one of the best burgers my husband had in awhile and made the his Birthday that much better. Great birthday weekend, all the little details like high quality mattresses (thank you!) king sized beds for couples, soft sheets, clean rooms all make this cabin a slam dunk. Thank you again Megan we will be back this fall.

Loved this place, will be back!

My family rented this cabin, the guys loved the ice fishing, us girls loved the hot tub, and the kids loved the sledding! The house is clean and inviting, the beds are made up with plenty of pillows and blankets, and bedside fans. The bathrooms are clean and bright. The kitchens are fully stocked with anything you could use to make a meal. Having two refrigerators is a huge plus. The fireplace was also an added bonus and the kids loved the access to Netflix. The area around the house is clean and nice. I will definitely be renting this cabin in the summer. We can't wait to get out on the lake! A huge thank you to the owner for answering all of our questions!

Great winter cabin

What a great place for a weekend away. My husband and I and another couple rented the cabin for a weekend away with our kids. We brought our side by side and took it out on the lake for the day and ice fished. The fishing was good and the kids had a blast. The fireplace was great and kept us warm after a day out on the ice. The kids fell asleep watching TV and we all got a weekend away to relax. We are planning on coming back this summer. Thank you.

Great weekend away for a Holiday.

We rented the cabin for a weekend getaway for our small company holiday party. We invited our employees and their spouses up for the weekend. My wife cooked two full meals and snacks for the group of 8 of us easily. We enjoyed the tall dining table that was also perfect for cards and games which we played one evening for hours. We also liked the extra fridge on the lower level that we filled with packs of water, pop and beer and kept the main level fridge free for food. We used the fireplace every evening which I loved, they also had instructions which helped as I didn't know much about fires but one of guys in our group did. The king sized beds were nice as we were 4 sets up couples and I hate small beds. We had a great time and plan to come back in the spring. Thank you!

This cabin is a great find! We will be back.

What a great weekend! My sister found the cabin and we booked it for a girls weekend. We were pleased with the cabin. We had six ladies stay for a much needed time away before the holidays. We loved that two of the bedrooms have king sized beds. The cabin has two levels and each level is kind of it’s own cabin because there is a kitchen and living room on both levels. This was appreciated especially in the evenings as the night owls stayed up playing cards on the lower where the fireplace is and sipped wine and watched the fire and played cards. In the mornings it was nice to have two levels with kitchens and living rooms as well because the early birds in the group could get up make coffee and toast and watch tv while the others slept and we didn’t feel like we were bothering anyone. The cabin was clean and they set out towels with cute little bottles of shampoo and sips, they also set out coffee and teas and little treats. We also liked that most everything is provided for us like wood for the fireplace and charcoal for the grill we really packed clothes and food and that was all we needed to worry about. Great trip and enjoyable weekend.
