About this property

This is our guest house. It is very nicely appointed with hardwood cabinets, tile and hardwood floors, and professional grade appliances. The lower level has an open living/dining area with a fully equipped galley kitchen. Large dining table. Patio doors with view of the lake. There is a full bath down. One bedroom with one queen and one full bed. Upstairs is queen bed with sitting area, and small bedroom with queen bed. Bath up is shower/toilet only.

This house sits on owner's homestead with a spectacular view of the Apostle Islands from a high bank. Access the large permanent pier by stairs (about 125) or by electric tram to shore end of dock. There is a swim ladder if you care to venture into the cold, clear waters of Lake Superior. Many guests do, and describe the experience as "spiritual".

The dock sits at the south end of Hidden Beach, which is accessible only to residents of the local development. Most of the time you will have the beach to yourself. Enjoy watching the fishing and sailboats heading towards anchorages at Stockton Island. Eagles nest and perch in the tall pines along the shore.

A True Treasure

Wonderful place to stay. Beautiful beach to explore. Close to Town Park and State Park. Accommodations were beautiful. We were very happy and comfortable. Larry and Marge are wonderful hosts. Flowers on the property were gorgeous. Would love to come back again.

Amazing house with easy beach access

A beautiful home with plenty of space and all the necessary amenities. The location is remote from town for complete quiet listening to the birds. There was not a day that my teens and I did not go down to the beach via the steps or tram and enjoy the quiet dock and walking up the beach. It was the perfect place to go instead of out in the car or after a bike ride or hike to cool down and relax. The kitchen was excellent with beautiful wood sourced from the site of the house. My teens noted that this is definitely a house we should return to again. Larry was an excellent host. He was very flexible with arrival given some traffic issues along the way. He was great to talk to about the wildlife, the area, the weather patterns, etc. yet he was very respectful of our privacy and never intrusive. He was available by a quick text with any needs and even texted us to warn us of a coming storm.

fall getaway

The property was perfect for fall family getaway. Larry was very welcoming and showed us the property when we arrived. We especially enjoyed the electric tram to the dock. enjoyed watching the sunsets and walking along the beach.

PERFECT GETAWAY

Quiet location in the woods, steps away from Lake Superior. Great area for biking, hiking, kayaking, shopping etc. Mind the ferry schedule for off Islan plans. Owners were very kind, friendly, and helpful. Their little dog Shelby came and checked on us daily.

Perfect, again

A quiet but astonishingly beautiful getaway. The house is comfortable, well equipped, and full of natural light. We find we spend one happy day after another hanging out on the dock with a book, jumping in and out of the clear and bracing water of Lake Superior, and watching birds and sailboats go by.

Truly Great Escape

Beautiful home, as described. We had a great time. Larry was 100% responsive. We enjoyed the lake and kayaking. We had 1 yo baby with us, Larry set us up with all needed supplies for the baby, so we didn't regret keeping all our helpful baby equipment at home. North end of an island provided us with the seclusion we were looking for.

Beautiful and peaceful

Seclusion Vacation

Home Away From Home

My family and I spent a week at Larry and Marge's cabin, and we loved it. The cabin itself was perfect for our family of six (two adults, four kids), and the location couldn't have been more peaceful. The kids especially enjoyed jumping off the dock and wading along the beach, and we made it down to the water's edge almost every evening to take in the gorgeous sunsets. Larry and Marge are kind and attentive hosts. We would love to stay here again!

Had such a great time

This is the second summer we have spent on the NE end of Madeleine Island at this cabin. It is perfect for our family of 5. We never missed a sunset and spent so many hours swimming in the Lake. We are hoping to be back next year.

Very quiet out of the way house on Madeline island

Enjoyed the property. Ferry to mainland can get expensive. Two families that are fine with sharing bathrooms and bedrooms will work great. More than 2 adult couples would be uncomfortable for my group. Very nice kitchen.

A beautiful property!

My family and I had a lovely time at Larry & Marge’s property. Beautiful location and the tram to the lake was super fun and unique. Upon our tour from Larry, he mentioned a momma bear and get three cubs were recently on the property. We didn’t see them during our visit, but did see bald eagles flying near the water and hummingbirds at the feeder near the patio. We also used the fire pit for s’mores a couple of nights which was fun! There was plenty of room for the four of us and we appreciate the upgraded kitchen appliances. Both Larry and Marge were very friendly and accommodating. We wnjoyed our stay.

Phenomenal island getaway

Great house, great location with an icredibly supplied kitchen. My husband is thinking of replacing our mattress at home with one like we slept on here. Our group of 5 had an excellent time at this Madeline Island property. Having the tram made hauling things to the Lake Superior pier a breeze.

Absolutely wonderful!

First of all, I have stayed in quite a few vacation rentals on the Great Lakes. Larry and Marge are by far the best hosts I have ever encountered. They provide excellent and helpful information on their listing. They are prompt in responding to email and phone communication. They are incredibly welcoming and friendly during the visit, so that their guests know they are available and ready to help as needed. Everything was just as described. If you have never experienced the beauty of a Great Lakes vacation, this is a great first experience. For those looking for their next Great Lakes adventure, this is it! Everyone on Madeline Island is friendly and goes out of their way to make sure your time there is above and beyond. If you love being out in nature and having the most beautiful landscape, lakeshore, and wooded views around you, this is your spot.

Serene Wooded Family Vacation

We planned a family vacation (4 adults, 3 children) to stay in Larry and Marge's guest house on their secluded property. The house itself was clean with a gourmet kitchen, 2 bull bathrooms, and 3 bedrooms. The layout was open with plenty of room for us to hang out together. All of the finishings were newer, and the house was chock full of creature comforts (blankets, games, tons of cooking items). The most remarkable part was the outdoors space. Awesome table and fire pit - but the walk down / tram down to a large pier in Lake Superior was PHENOMENAL!!! The tram was so unique and fun; and the space on Lake Superior was awesome for watching the sunset, collecting rocks and exploring. We loved this space and our stay, and the hosts were great. Book this today!

Tranquil escape

Larry and Marge communicate well with their guests and are simply wonderful people! The cottage is filled with everything you think you'll need and more! The cottage is beautiful, well maintained and set in the middle of nature paradise! The tram makes the lakeshore and dock accessible by all. It is quiet, relaxing and the perfect place to unwind. Madeline Island is full of dirt roads, friendly people and plenty of nature and wildlife to observe. If you plan on going back and forth from the mainland, be aware of the ferry times and fees. Be prepared to not want to leave!
