About this property

Whippet Cottage - sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms

This welcoming cottage is tucked into the corner of a small and peaceful courtyard of similar properties and is very much like stepping into a Tardis! To the rear, there's a delightful communal garden, surrounded by trees.

Whippet Cottage is an inviting and welcoming place to stay, the traditionally styled interior is warm and homely, and original beams can be seen throughout, lending character to the cottage. On the ground floor, you'll find a well-equipped kitchen and dining area, a comfortable living room and a fabulous sunroom with bi-fold doors leading out to the private, enclosed courtyard garden. There's also a ground-floor shower room. On the first floor, there are two cosy bedrooms with views over the rear to the gardens beyond, and a second bathroom.

Outside there is a large, private courtyard surrounded by a canopy of trees and the sound of birdsong. There's a dining table with seating for six, a charcoal barbecue and a secure shed, which is perfect for bicycle storage. This is a lovely spot for alfresco dining and sunset drinks on a warm summer evening.

Ground Floor

Entrance Hall:
From the front door, step into the tiled entrance hall which has a large wooden shoe rack, coat hooks and a handy storage cupboard, where you'll find the iron and ironing board and towels that can be used for wet paws.

Kitchen/Diner:
This welcoming, sociable space has a dining table that seats four easily and opens into a well-equipped kitchen area. A large butcher's block provides additional worktop space. Hidden behind the pale, shaker-style doors you'll find everything you need for a self-catering holiday, including a dishwasher and plenty of cookware, should the urge to bake come over you. There's also a gas hob and electric oven, a full-size fridge-freezer and a washing machine and double doors that can be thrown open to the enclosed courtyard to let the fresh air in.

Living Room:
The simple yet elegant wood burner is a focal point in this generously sized room. The white painted beams overhead add a sense of character, while corner lights give a gentle glow to the room. There's plenty of comfy seating with both a three-seater and a two-seater sofa plus an armchair. There's a large Smart TV in one corner and the wooden furnishings enhance the welcoming ambience.

Sunroom:
This fabulous room runs the entire width of the cottage and is a wonderful addition to the living space. Bifold doors can be folded back allowing inside/outside living and easy access to the enclosed courtyard. There's a further dining table with seating for four, a three-seater sofa, two armchairs and a soft leather chesterfield sofa, all of which are piled with throws and cushions, making it a cosy spot even when the weather is cooler.

Shower Room:
Off the entrance hall, there's a ground-floor shower room with a step-in shower cubicle, hand basin and W.C.

First Floor

Stairs rise from the living room to the first floor.

Bedroom One:
The first of the two bedrooms is a cosy room with a window overlooking the rear and a front Velux bringing in more natural light. The super-comfy king-size bed is made up with crisp white linen and a pretty bedspread, adding colour to the neutral decor. Built-in wardrobes and a tall chest of drawers give plenty of storage and there are also two bedside tables with reading lamps. A pretty rattan two-seater sofa offers occasional seating.

Bathroom / Shower Room:
Between the two bedrooms is a well-fitted bathroom featuring a large bath with a handheld shower, WC and a vanity unit with a hand basin, mirror with light over and side storage cupboards with a shaver point.

Bedroom Two:
Similar in style to bedroom one, this bedroom is a cosy double with views to the rear of the cottage. Built-in under-eaves storage, bedside tables with reading lamps and a small chest of drawers provide everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Outside

To the rear of Whippet Cottage is a private, enclosed courtyard with a side gate to the parking area. A dining table with seating for six and a charcoal barbecue make this a great spot for alfresco dining. The tree canopy surrounding you is filled with birdsong, enhancing the sense of peace. There is also a secure shed suitable for bicycle storage. Beyond the courtyard is the parking area for the cottages with two allocated spaces for Whippet Cottage and beyond this a delightful, communal garden which guests are welcome to use.

Wonderful Cosy Cottage

Whippet Cottage was both well equipped, particularly liked Hi Fi in lounge. Kitchen facilities excellent for whatever cooking wish to do. House also very comfortable, Conservatory worthy of note as lovely sun trap even in autumn with very comfy sofas. House maintained to high standard, with everything clean and in good condition. House located in lovely private courtyard of similar properties, with lovely community garden. Also less than 10 mins walk from Fleece Inn a lovely pub cannot recommend highly enough. All made for a very relaxing weekend away . Will certainly be returning.

A lovely place to stay

The cottage was beautifully clean and tidy on arrival. There is a lot of equipment available in the kitchen and the facilities are very helpful with everything you could need for a stay away from home. It also has a lot of spaces to hang out in with the conservatory. The location is very handy for day trips out and having a private parking space is fantastic. The only thing I would question is that we followed the directions for contacting the housekeeper, from the details given in the Visitor Information book in the lounge, and never heard anything back - do these details need updating?

Beautiful cottage in lovely location for touring the Cotswolds

This was our first visit to the Cotswolds and we would definitely return to Whippet Cottage as it was an excellent base for exploring, and a lovely retreat to come home to in the evening. Everything about the cottage was perfect from the spacy but cosy feel, the storage space in both bedrooms, the well equipped kitchen and the fabulous conservatory where we spent most of our time. The village of Bretforton itself is quiet and quaint and the local pub, The Fleece Inn , is just amazing and well worth a visit or two!! for the lovely ambience, great food and selection of real cask ales. Other places that may be of interest to those not familiar with the area are Broadway and the tower for amazing views of the surrounding countryside, Batsford Arboretum (dogs on lead welcome), Cirencester and the little village of Blockley. There are so many other places still to explore though. Our thanks to the owners for keeping Whippet Cottage so clean and comfortable and exactly how the accommodation looked in the images on the website. The only small negative is that a small supply of tea would be welcome as we have found this to be the norm with all cottages we have stayed in previously ( and indicated in one of the cottage images as part of a welcome basket) - after a 7 hour journey we had to make a dash to the local supermarket as it was closing at 4pm for the euro final.

Beautiful cottage, spotlessly clean with everything you need

Stayed in this beautiful cottage for three nights to visit the Midlands Air Show at Ragley Hall. It was spotlessly clean and well presented with everything you need for your stay. There was milk in the fridge and a welcome cake (although I am unable to comment on whether it was good or not as I have a nut allergy and it was coffee and walnut - my husband quite liked it though!). There is plenty of room with a bright conservatory overlooking a well kept enclosed small garden. It is well situated for easy access to the major roads whilst being in a quiet village location. We ate our evening meals in the local Fleece Inn, which was only a five minute walk away, providing good typical pub food. We had a lovely stay in this cottage and would definitely come back again in the future. Highly recommended.

Excellent cottage with good parking and nice grounds

An extremely pleasant stay in a well equipped cottage in quiet location just off the Main Street. Interesting friendly village, well stocked community shop and quaint pub which served us an excellent Sunday lunch. Plenty of local footpaths with pretty riverside walks in Evesham 4 miles away.

A lovely dog-friendly cottage

We had a great stay at Whippet Cottage with our two whippets. The house was really well equipped and the communal garden was lovely. The beds were comfy and the conservatory was a great space for a family meet-up. Bretforton village is really sweet and the Fleece Inn is cosy and welcoming. We loved walking the dogs around the village - especially seeing the alpacas!

A lovely stay

We really enjoyed our stay at Whippet Cottage. Very comfortable accommodation and clean. The cottage is well equipped and furnished to a food standard. Beds were comfortable. Cottage was clean. Just a couple of stains on pillow cases. The bathroom and kitchen were nicely fitted. Only issues were that the sink in the bathroom drains very poorly. This does need addressing as dirty stagnant water sitting there is not good. Nice to have the option of the fire. Excellent location for travelling in the car and for the local Fleece Inn which serves excellent food. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others.

Quiet location with local facilities

Very comfortable home from home with the benefit of a lovely conservatory and parking with a quiet communal garden, as well as friendly neighbours. Many additional benefits with 2 TVs, a TV recorder and 2 bathrooms. The downstairs shower room is quite cramped, mainly due to a lovely large shower, but the upstairs bathroom is fine. The only additions we would provide are a couple of pint beer glasses and more importantly a "proper" ironing board. Thanks for the welcoming pack and the provision of basic supplies. The ginger biscuits were lovely! Away from the house, the local community store was really useful (great ice cream!) and the local 15th century pub The Fleece Inn provides good food and outdoor covered tables (21 and 22), and is just a pleasant 10 minute walk away. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our fortnight and look forward to returning again in the future.
