A guest commented " ...it feels like a holiday" the first time they entered the property...
Just outside Hautefort in the Dordogne's Perigord Noir, sits 2 1/2 acres of charming secluded grounds. Surrounded by green rolling pasture and lovely trees, you find Le Petit Verger (The Little Orchard). A large private swimming pool (security fenced) lies in a sunny position just steps from both the original stone farmhouse, and the wooden chalet-style cottage. Note it is possible to rent just one cottage to accommodate 4. Please enquire.
The farmhouse is a spacious traditional stone converted barn which has been tastefully restored and furnished retaining charm and character. The wood cottage offers a more modern take on rustic charm "a la campagne". Both houses sit comfortably within the grounds, and have lovely views with covered terraces dressed with potted flowers and climbing vines. Both have access to ample and comfortable garden furniture for dining plus access to BBQs. The layout of the property makes it ideal for two families or groups of friends traveling together to share a holiday, but retain the space, privacy and convenience of separate comfortable facilities should you wish to use just a portion of the property.

Both the farmhouse and wood cottage have 2 bedrooms with comfortable and stylish bed & bath linens, and complete kitchens including dishwashers. The farmhouse offers a full bathroom with shower over bath tub. The cottage offers a generously sized full bathroom with walk-in shower.

Both houses have lovely rural views and enjoy secluded peace and quiet in an idyllic rural setting- yet just minutes away from all the restaurants and amenities of Hautefort/St. Agnan and the many activities of the area.

Please enquire if you would like to rent just one of the two houses as it is possible. See the rates for details. We offer a discount should you choose to rent out the entire property. If you are traveling with a larger group- it is possible to provide an extra children's bed to add sleeping for 1 additional child, making the entire property suitable for 9.

Perfect in Every Way
We have just spent three weeks at Le Petit Verger and it could not have been a more perfect trip. An amazing, personalized, welcome package, and all the great communication and hospitality from the hosts were so appreciated and generous. We had days of sitting and reading on the porch, followed by sitting at/in the pool, followed by eating in the moon and twinkle lights, and all was sublime. We ventured out into the Dordogne for many a great adventure. Three different cave visits. Wow. A couple of times to the lovely town of Montignac. Markets at Sarlat and Saint-Genies. Two visits to the chateau in Hautefort :) amazing pastries from the Boulangeries every morning. Lots of duck as well. The neighboring cows coming by for their afternoon snack was fun to see. ... There's so much more we want to do in this area and this perfect getaway house is the best place to be based. The privacy, decor, quiet nature, and everything you'd need in a home was there. Again, everything we were hoping for in a get-away home, and more! We can't wait to go back! Thank you Bevans'!

Everything we wanted and more.
We could not have been happier with the property itself as well as the local villages and surrounding areas. Holidaying for the first time as 2 families of 4 (from the same extended family), the set up was fantastic allowing some space when required, but also a real sense of togetherness. Family meals on the veranda, with a view of the pool and watching the cows graze, made home and work seem like a distant memory. With 4 children ranging from 5 to 14, many an hour was spent in the swimming pool which is an excellent size, and admittedly the grown-ups enjoyed it equally. The property is on a large plot, surrounded by trees which offers privacy, natural beauty and tranquility, making for the perfect ingredients for a relaxing holiday. In addition to a magnificent chateau, nearby Hautefort (less that 5 mins drive through beautiful country lanes), is picturesque and offers all things required on such a break, from a good supermarket and butchers, an exceptional boulangerie (very pretty and magnificent food), and several very good cafes and restaurants. All of the locals were extremely warm and welcoming, and several of the restaurants serve exceptionally good food and wine. The owners have ensured that the property is equipped with everything you could need, along with a very useful folder of things to do and places to visit from very local to 90 mins drive away. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and as well as wanting to return, would highly recommend it to others.

Wonderfully Charming & Amazing Property!! Highly Recommend Le Petit Verger!!
We had an incredible stay at Le Petit Verger!! Truly an amazing property with incredible charm and comfort. The pictures do not show the incredible beauty surrounding the two adorable well appointed Cottages. This is a very private and relaxing place to kick back and enjoy all it has to offer. The Cottages are completely remodeled and offer up everything you need for a comfortable stay. We stayed in the Stone Cottage which has an lovely outside area for dining and when we arrived there was a welcome basket, with all sorts of goodies. Very nice touch!! Well equipped kitchens and bath too! The swimming pool is a very nice size with lots of room. We had a great time just swimming and laying around the pool on hot days. It was also a real treat sitting by the pool at nighttime looking at all the amazing shooting stars and constellations . The entire sky was filled with stars and so clear you could see Mars and Saturn. This is a must do in summer!! The beauty of the Le Petit Verger is not completely captured in the photos. We were completely amazing by how stunning everything was. It surpassed our expectations!! This is also a great location to explore the regions of the Dordogne. The town of Hautefort is completely charming and has a great Patisserie and lots of places to dine. We did the night tour of the Hautefort Chateau which is really fun!! Other activities in the area we recommend are canoing down the scenic Dordogne River. We also went to the Caves at Rouffignac which was only a 40min drive. We really had an amazing stay and would highly recommend Le Petit Verger to friends and family!! This is truly a special place!!

Doesn't get much better than this !!
This was our second visit to the Dordogne, but this time we ventured a hundred kilometres further east to the charming town of Hautefort and its idyllic surroundings. The way of life here is lived in almost slow motion, and from the moment we arrived at Le Petit Verger any worries, stress or anxieties quickly dissipated, leaving us to enjoy the farmhouse, its facilities and its serene surroundings. The house was perfectly equipped, and its rustic charm enveloped us immediately. In the grounds of Le Petit Veger there is a huge swimming pool, the biggest we've experienced on our travels, and plenty of furniture around it to simply relax, read, listen to music, and of course swim. We also made use of the boules that were provided, and we played a game each evening before our meal - great fun! There is also a volleyball net/court, but boules were just about the limit of our energies. So, all in all, the location, accomodation, grounds and additional facilities provided meant you really didn't need to leave Le Petit Verger at all - but c'mon, you don't think we were going to miss out on the glorious French countryside and hospitality? Of course not, so at 8am each morning off we drove! Each day we picked a circular(ish) route on the map, taking in towns, villages and places of interest - and we weren't disappointed. Thanks Patrice and Mike - it was simply sublime. Dave and Sue

Wonderful in every way
We had a wonderful week in this idyllic spot with our daughter, her husband and our three young grandsons. The personal touch of the welcome basket of goodies, both houses being beautifully decorated and also very well equipped, along with a large swimming pool (which was not cold!), meant we spend many hours enjoying the property. Our grandsons also enjoyed going on lizard and frog hunts. We can't recommend this place highly enough.

Get away from the rat race and recharge!!
If you want a place to get away from it all you've found it. Quaint and querkey main house is beautifully decorated and clean with a lovely sociable covered outside dinning/seating area. We sat outside every evening with a uninterrupted view of the night sky with a glass or two of wine with no noise whatsoever. The pool garden and facilities on site are excellent for the smaller ones and in our case dogs. With plenty of games onsite. In the mornings I jumped on my bike for the 3km commute to the local bakers for fresh bread in Hautefort. The locals were very friendly and accommodating with my minimal French. A little further down the lane is an intermarche supermarket where there is everything you could possibly need. We had a couple of excursions during our stay there is a local lake 10mins north of the property with a beach and water skiing. 50mins south the dordogne river was our favourite with a family canoeing/kayak day. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it to anyone thinking of visiting the region. Patrice and her team will be more than happy to help. Thank you.

One-of-a-kind property in a fabulous area
I was blown away by this place, honestly. It's a huge plot of land, totally private and impossibly picturesque, with a glorious pool as well as lots of other places to enjoy its comforts and views (the covered front porch is the greatest). The farm house and "gite" have been put together with obvious attention to detail, and we wanted for absolutely nothing. Everything is thoughtfully, tastefully decorated - just enough authentic charm without being kitschy or over-done. Beds are comfy, and everything works. PLUS... what a wonderful area to explore. The towns are utterly charming, it is NOT overrun with tourists, and there are a million things to do.. starting with the incredible chateau at the top of the hill. A truly spectacular base from which to explore this very under-rated part of France (shhh!).

Wonderful Escape
We've found our new favourite escape. We rented the cottage and the description accurately fits the comfortable rustic charm. We enjoyed relaxing by the pool and the peace and quiet of the tranquil property and the surrounding area. The town of Hautefort is just a five minute drive and I strongly recommend the wonderful boulangerie and it's amazing pastries and bread. Great restaurants are close by and I recommend Coco Pat for a casual meal with good food and wine. This part of France is wonderful to explore and provides the perfect escape to relax and recharge. The owner was great and provided lots of advice and information making it easy for us to feel at home. I highly recommend this property and look forward to a return visit.

Fabulous home from home
This holiday home is beautiful. Accurately described, it is beautifully furnished and maintained. The owners have thoughtfully gone to a lot of trouble to leave a very comprehensive book with a full list of things to do in the area of which there are many. Many historical chateaux's, canoeing, walking, many local towns, incredible restaurants, etc. They have also provided "at home" activities for all the family - games, videos, books etc not to mention the most beautiful pool. This is truly spectacular place to stay. The lay out provides a single level house with two bedrooms - ideal for grandparents or even the teenagers, and a two story house for the family. Perfect for a multi generation family or two families. could not recommend it highly enough - plus, and this is a big plus in my experience of renting holiday accommodation - the owners responded to all of my questions about the property and location - they speak English and French. PERFECT!

Superbes vacances !

Spot on Holiday in gorgeous spot
Our annual bike tour...Fantastic pool. Completely private property with lovely country views. Clean and organised accommodations. All the amenities we wanted plus more. This is just what we needed and this property provided us a comfortable and relaxing base to explore from. We were welcomed by a fantastic little package with some wine and other necessities to get us started. Our group of 6 each had their own bed. We had plenty of cooking facilities with the 2 well equipped kitchens. The stone farmhouse house had a lovely feel to it- very traditional with the occasional antique here and there- the little wooden gite had a more modern feel to it but still very comfortable and well-appointed. We had one day of rain and were able to entertain ourselves with the generous selection of movies on hand to view. The owner answered many of our questions in advance of our trip and offered some suggestions to help us plan some of our bike rides. Great tourist info center not far from the property. We normally visit the Dordogne river valley for our bike trip but found this area much more enjoyable as the roads are not congested and there are a lot of quiet country roads to explore on bikes. We spent a wonderful week here and will recommend it to our friends!

Tranquility and beauty in the south of France!
Why go to France if you are expecting the same experience as home? You don't! I went to this property with one expectation, to lose myself in the romantic thoughts, sounds and tastes of the French countryside. I travel all over the world and stay in some of the most luxurious places. This was a luxury of a different kind - cozy, spotless, simple yet casually elegant! I can't say enough about the amazing experience I had at this property. We enjoyed most evenings laughing and siping wine (purchased in town) poolside. Not only was the location lovely and the locals charming, it was the small touches by the owner and attentiveness of the property caretaker that made me fall in love at first sight. It was evident that Mrs. Bevans cared. She went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable, informed about our surrounding and made to feel "at home" in many ways . The process was smooth and easy. Every crazy question was answered in a timely manner. I highly recommend this property to anyone who is willing to lose themselves to the French laissez faire! (Piece of advice, a few polite French words goes along way in town!). Merci beaucoup Madame Bevans!!!! I look forward to my return in August!!!

Super Stay
Our trip to France and the Dordogne was fantastic thanks to these superb accommodations. Besides the pool, everyones favorite spot was the large covered porch with the country views. Both the stone house and the wood cottage were clean and comfortable. We appreciated the little extras like the welcome pack and the books and games for the kids. Location close to Hautefort made this a perfect base to explore the region. This property was as advertised- perhaps even better! Fabulous family vacation. We will recommend.

Relaxing and charming get-a-way
This charming property was full of surprises. From the little pond with frogs to friendly games of Boules to walks in some deliciously unspoilt landscapes. This little orchard farm gave us clean, comfortable beds, well- equipped kitchens and plenty of space to lounge both inside and outside. The kids couldn't get enough of the pool and I fancied a nap or two on the comfy sun loungers! We traveled with my parents and they loved having their own quiet place to themselves in the little Wood cottage. The owners left a very detailed guide for the areas attractions, restaurants and other points if interest. We came to see castles and pretty villages and Lascaux. We were less than an hour from everything we wanted to see. We enjoyed our stay immensely and will recommend to friends. Hope to visit again!

Heaven on earth
What a beautiful spot. The house is so charming , built of stone, and the setting is so beautiful. The rual charm. Then there is the pool , wow, we spent many hours relaxing and soaking in the beautiful surroundings. Accommodations were comfortable and clean with all the amenities of home. The Dordogne river valley has become my favorite region of France. The people are so friendly and warm and the small villages and towns so picture perfect. There are fantastic castles and amazing caves, some with the best prehistoric cave drawings and some with amazing stalagmites and stalagtites with rivers. I just love the scope of history both cultural and natural all in a slower paced rual setting. A true vacation.
