Countryside getaway in Yorkshire
The views at this cottage are outstanding, we had the most amazing sunrises and sunsets and loved just relaxing at the property watching the view. The property just needs a little bit of TLC to get 5 stars, front door handle wasn’t working properly, a fair few loose screws etc in chairs and tables which meant they were rickety, which we had to tighten up and some broken outside furniture. Also watch out the track is a farm track and a bit bumpy … fine in any SUV/4x4 but for normal saloons etc might be tricker. All in all a fantastic stay and the views from the property and living space more than made up for any of the smaller TLC issues.

Fantastic location
Absolutely amazing location, gorgeous property and well equipped. Huge, fully enclosed garden, perfect for the dogs. A couple of observations, definitely not criticism, and will not prevent us visiting again. The garden is quite boggy in places and quite overgrown with weeds, nettles and very long grass. The dogs loved it but may not be very practical or safe for kids to play in in its current state. They would definitely need wellies. The bifold doors don’t lock properly, the lounge door sticks, the front door lock is a bit dodgy and the top shower head is a bit loose. The whole place needs someone with a screwdriver to go in and give it the once over. Be careful on the track down to the property it is very uneven and people in low down cars may struggle. As I said we will definitely return it was ideal for a bit of peace and quiet with amazing views all around. With a bit of TLC this would have been 5 stars all the way.

Our overall impression was of a property that has lots of potential, but is in serious need of TLC and repairs The long lane to the property is extremely potholed, and although there has been building rubble laid recently, it has in no way resolved the issue. We had expected a welcome pack, but found none. We spent the first morning cleaning the property; dusty floors, hairs on bathroom floor and in bath, towel rail was loose and the base needed scrubbed to remove rust. There was a number of pieces of chipped crockery, and glassware was sparce, (only 2 wines glasses). Knowing that the property had a coffee machine we brought our own beans, only to find the machine in a cupboard, in a filthy condition, and not working. Basic TV instructions, we could get Sky basic but unable to operate the Firestick. The garden is a piece of farming land, boggy and deeply rutted in places. The patio sits quite high off the ‘garden’ and a child or older person could easily fall. The front step to the property consists of two breeze blocks that are not secured or level. A dining table chair leg was so loose that it would have collapsed if someone had sat on it. The location and view from the property cannot be faulted, however it requires a substantial upgrade. We realise that are people who may not respect the property they are staying in however, management should ensure that issues are resolved in a timely manner, and regular inspections made before handover to next guests.
