About this property

Signoria - Flo Apartments

A stone’s throw from Piazza della Signoria, that you can glimpse just looking out of your bedroom window, in the very heart of the so-called Dantesque district of the town, our apartment is at the first floor without elevator (15 steps) of a mediaval stone-made building in a lively and rich in history little street, Via dei Cerchi.
For those who wish to live the true soul of the ancient Florence, this comfortable apartment is the right choice. It is the ideal location for those who want to immerse themselves in the city history and in its monuments, but also for those who love the comfort of biking or walking around, for families with children who need well-organized spaces, or even for those who explore the city with friends, with the advantage of 2 bedrooms and a wide, cosy and comfortable living area, fulcrum of the house and of conviviality.
This quite and super central apartment has been recently renewed and tastfully decorated with attention to details and comfort, preserving the original details, such as the typical wooden ceilings and a gorgeous pietra Serena frame, and adding the comfort of modern accessories.
The entrance opens onto the wide living, furnished with a large arte povera wooden table for your moment of conviviality, a modern colorful sofa, a bookshelf and TV.
Here the atmosphere is warmed by the lively colors of the walls and by the wooden floor and ceiling, and welcomes you in the beating heart of the house.
From the living room, a little stone step leads you to the full-equipped kitchenette (microwave, washing machine, kettle, oven) where you can prepare your breakfast, lunch or dinner any time you wish.
From the living you also access the 2 wide bedrooms: the first is equipped with 2 single beds, which, when needed, can turn into a double bed, and it’s furnished with a shabby chic style wardrobe and a wooden desk.
The second one, which is accessed through a beautiful pietra serena frame, is equipped with a romantic wrought-iron double bed, wooden desk for those who need to work, bookshelf, a separate cloakroom area and an en-suite bathroom (sink and wc).
A second bathroom with shower completes the apartment.
All rooms are equipped with air conditioning, heating and Wi-Fi.
THE DISTRICT
Its strategic location, places you in one of the oldest districts of the town, in its most authentic medieval heart, nestled between Piazza della Signoria and Palazzo Vecchio, that you can glimpse looking outside the bedrooms windows, Orsanmichele, La Torre della castagna, and la Badia Fiorentina. You are a stone’s throw from Uffizi Gallery and the Casa di Dante, at 5 minutes walk from the Duomo and Ponte Vecchio.
We are in Via dei Cerchi, in the so-called dantesque district of the city ( even though there’re no certain elements, it’s quite sure that Dante lived in this area), an area still characterized by a dense network of narrow streets and a number of tower-houses (Case Torri), typical architectural typologies of the era, with a dual militar and civil function.
One of the most significant samples is the Casa Torre dei Cerchi, on the corner with Via del Corso.
The tower-houses were owned by the rival families of that time: the Cerchi, the Donati and others that declared themselves loyal to the Bianchi or to the Neri, parties that caused the Dante’s finally exile ( he was on the side of Guelfi Bianchi).
The house of Dante , very popular museum, is an ideal reconstruction built in 1906 in the area where in the medioevo the Alighieri house was.
Instead, the Dante’s church Santa Margherita dei Cerchi is authentic and ancient : here Dante Alighieri and Gemma Donati, the “angel-like” Beatrice, got married.
Even though it’s a touristic area, it has kept its original and charming appearance: strolling around through the narrow alleys and the little squares, you can discover artesan’s shops, typical restaurants and smaller museums such as Museo Marino Marini.
The district is in fact characterized by the presence of important monuments and historic evidences but also by typical trattorie and shops of all kinds.
And how not to help yourself to a walk along the river Arno and its bridges?
This area has plenty of restaurants, taverns and clubs, that animate squares and streets with their outdoor, especially during summertime.
Here you can enjoy the best dishes of Tuscan cuisine, an informal lunch or a romantic dinner.
Ideal for couples or families with children, the district offers everything you may need during your stay.
A couple of blocks away you will find: a bank, a pharmacy, bars, pastry shops, ice cream parlors, pizzerias, typical and ethnic restaurants, supermarkets, hairdressers, laundrette, bus stop.
We are within a walking distance from all the most important places of interest in the city:

Perfection

We picked this place because a friend had stayed there with her family and highly recommended it. She was right, location was great and checking was a breeze!

Stylish Apartment at fantastic central location

We loved our stay at Sweet Home Ufizi. It was the perfect size for our family of four. The location allowed us to walk everywhere, including from/to the train station with our luggage. The only downside we found was that the bathroom was incredibly tight, even for Italian standards. It worked for us, but it might be too tiny if you are on the larger side/have a lot of toiletries. The living room was very spacious, the kitchen had a large refrigerator, and internet worked well also. The apartment entry numeric lock worked well and made late arrival easy (also avoiding extra coordination and a late checkin fee that we had to deal with in Rome). I would recommended this place to friends that plan to go to Florence in the future.

Great location

You are literally right by the main market center/outdoor shopping area. You are walking distance from everything. There is a laundromat nearby would recommend over using the washing machine in the unit. It made our clothes smells and no dryer. Restaurants at the bottom of the building are all great. Short walk to all the main cathedrals and museums.

Beautiful location in Florence.

We travelled with my 5 year old, my mother in law and my husband. Our host was attentive, and informative. The apartment was clean, and had all the accommodations that we needed, but one of the bathrooms was too small for us (we are tall people :) ). The place was in a perfect location near the Piazza della signoria, and many other attractions, and local museums. Just across the Apartment complex entrance, there are many food businesses (fruit, seafood, meat bar, wine bar, etc) where you can enjoy local food. The downside that we noticed was mainly at nights. The apartment was located in the second floor, and the windows obviously go directly to the street side, where you can hear the people at the local bar making some noise. After a few hours, we were able to sleep, but with a 5 year old, was kind of difficult at the beginning. If you are a heavy sleeper, there will be no problem. Otherwise, it was a beautiful place.

Home away from home in Florence

What a comfortable and attractive apartment, run by very helpful hosts. And the location could not have been better - just a short walk from Florence's main attractions.

Florence

Enjoyed our stay in Florence. The apartment was quaint. Had problems with the washer. Minimum towels and toilet paper for four adults for a week. Host Barbara was great about getting the washer fixed. Really loved Florence. Loved the location of the apartment.

Nice and clean good location beds fine. First time using keyless locks eventually got the hang of it but had some anxiety first few times. The shower is small even for a small person. Overall would definitely stay there again

Great Stay, Great Location!

Great location in the heart of Firenze! We loved the apartment. If I could nit pick one thing is that the bathroom is very small. We have 3 men over 6 feet in our family (yes - two teenage boys that big) and they had trouble with their size and the toilet. But otherwise, everything was great. We will definitely be back.

Not what we thought

Toilets weren’t properly cleaned. There were splatters on top rim in both plus feces marks in master. Pictures on site were deceiving, especially bathroom size. The shower would not drain when showering and there was black mold in corners of the shower. Only soap for master bath, not the kitchen. Ran out of toilet paper and had to buy. Was very disappointed for our first out of country vrbo experience. Will not do again.

Great place in the heart of Florence!

Our family of 4 spent 5 nights at the apartment. It was the perfect size for us. It looked just as listed and had everything we needed. There was a nice book of tips on the area provided by the host. We loved being able to step out our door to the produce market, cafes, and sandwich shops. We were able to walk everywhere we went in Florence and thoroughly enjoyed exploring the city.

Nice Apartment in Central Location

Nice apartment not far from main attractions, only a 20 minute walk from the train station. Check-in/check-out was very easy and the host was quick to respond to any questions we had. Bathroom layout (the one with a shower) is a little odd with no sink to wash your hands but we used the kitchen sink. The two twin beds in the second bedroom are extremely hard which made it difficult to sleep. I recommend bringing earplugs to tune out of the morning vendors getting ready for the day.

Great Location close to everything

This property was in a great location. Close to everything. The new Vikey access lock is a little tricky but the owners were super helpful. Once you have the physical key you should feel confident in case the wifi isnt cooperating outside of the buliding to get in. The only issue we found was that in the evening their is a neighborhood bar that people seem to enjoy. However, they enjoy it into the very early hours of the next day. The cute fresh fruit market was a big plus and there are a bunch of food options directly around the apartment and a express market as well. We had a busy week planned and unfortunately we couldn't get a fully restful sleep. BUT we didn't let that ruin our stay. Also, the building directly across the street is under construction so that too was a challenge. BUT again we enjoyed our stay in Florence and would come back again.

17 Days in Florence

Spacious, colorful apartment in superb location. Step right out the front door across from a beautiful fruit and vegetable stand. One block from Palazzo Vecchio and Piazza del Signoria in one direction and one block from Dante House Museum in other direction. Minutes from Uffizi Gallery. Apartment is very clean and cozy. Temporarily felt like home away from home. We would definitely return to stay in same place.

Fabulously central

Ilaria was so helpful in checking in. Having support like that when your internet fails is just the best. This apartment was perfect for us as my mum can't walk far. The kitchen has everything you could need and the shops on the street outside sell everything for dinner/lunch. There are some noisy bars in the area - ear plugs might be useful. But this is a fabulous apartment.
