The Cottage: Gowla cottage is just 10km away from the lovely village of Carna at the beginning of a large peninsula. It is located in a Gaeltacht area which means that the locals speak the Irish language but don’t worry they also speak English. A great place for walking or for a quiet relaxed holiday the area has changed little in the last number of years and retains the charm that rural Ireland was once famous for. The cottage is located up a quiet boreen with stunning views of the surrounding area. It is real hidden gem with all mod cons while also having that lovely cottage feel. You will need a car but this is a great location for discovering all of Connemara and the peninsula itself has many hidden beaches for you to explore.
Carna Village has a hotel, shop church and a few pubs that also serve great food – we recommend the steaks in Tigh Mheac. Cashel House hotel & Zetland Country House Hotel are just 6km away if you fancied a meal or to enjoy their gardens. Perfect spot for salmon and trout fishing, just a short distance from lough Inagh, Derryclare and Ballynahinch.
Inside: This newly renovated cottage has everything you could need. A small hallway, with a spare fridge/freezer for use, brings you into a cosy open plan living/kitchen area with a stove and TV. The kitchen area has hob, oven & fridge with plenty of utensils. Off the living area are the 2 cosy bedrooms with double beds. One of these bedrooms also has a door into a large bathroom with bath – there is a second door into this bathroom from living area. There is another bathroom with new shower & washer/dryer from the living area.

The cottage at Cashel is the perfect base for fly fishing in and around Connemara. It is atmospheric, comfortable and has welcoming neighbours. It was a joy to come “home” every day after fishing Ballynahinch and Lough Inagh.

cosy, private cottage close to sea and mountains
Kingfisher cottage is is a cosy, well-furnished, comfortable cottage which is very conveniently located a short drive from both the mountains and the sea. It is private, clean, well-equipped and has a good bed and an efficient wood-burning stove.
Perfect bolt hole.

Absolutely great
This cottage is excellent for getting some peace and quiet and to relax your mind. The surrounding landscape is beautiful. The cottage had everything we needed and was decorated in a very pleasant way. There are lots of great walks and drives within an hour's drive away. We certainly enjoyed our stay there and will be very happy to return some day.
