About this property

Church Cottage (CA), Castle Acre, Norfolk

Located in a picturesque historical conservation area, Church Cottage is an exquisite flint and pantile semi-detached property that boasts uninterrupted views of a magnificent 14th century church, and offers storage for bicycles. Nestled in the peaceful and tranquil setting of Castle Acre, this historical village draws visitors from far afield around the year.

Built circa 1750, Church Cottage enjoys an exceptionally peaceful location, with the front door opening directly onto the village churchyard. Sympathetically updated to retain many character features, the cottage is delightfully furnished in a relaxing country cottage style. Entering the cottage via the front entrance porch, guests will instantly feel a warm welcome. With charming original beams, the sumptuous sofas in the dual aspect sitting room are the perfect place to nestle into in front of the inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove. A couple of steps lead down to the open-plan kitchen/ dining area. Seating for four guests is provided around an good-sized circular dining table which overlooks the picturesque churchyard. The well-equipped kitchen features a range cooker, and provides access to the courtyard garden. Upstairs, the exquisite spacious master bedroom showcases exposed beams and an exposed brick chimney breast. Boasting church views, this bedroom hosts a double bed, and is served by an en suite bathroom with roll top bath and shower over. Equally inviting bedroom two also provides a double bed with church views, and is served by an en suite shower room. Being fully enclosed, the garden is a safe place for supervised children and dogs to play. Storage is available for bicycles, and there is designated parking for one car.

Situated in a conservation area steeped in history, Church Cottage is an ideal choice for couples or a family looking for a peaceful, rural location with excellent local facilities, including a great pub, popular tea room, handy village shop, fish and chip shop and, a little further afield there is a Waitrose in the nearby market town of Swaffham. The ideal spot to explore North Norfolk
Church Cottage was the ideal place for the 4 of us. We were blessed by the weather and this allowed us to make full use of the many attractions including the North Norfolk Music Festival. The two ensuite rooms were just as we wanted and the kitchen and dining area was ideal with the comfortable sitting room for us to relax in the evenings. A thoroughly deserved 5 stars

Great stay at Church Cottage
Myself and my sister stayed here in May 2022 and enjoyed the cottage greatly. It is set in a good location with views of the churchyard right outside the front porch.....where everyday you can see Rabbits. The property had all the things we needed whilst on our stay in Norfolk (though weirdly no salt or pepper). There was a pack of leaflets and info etc left at the cottage. On the downside.....both of us were greatly affected by the curtains in the bedrooms. Downstairs there are nice thick curtains that cut out the light. In the bedrooms, there are light curtains that let in the light in the morning...waking us both up early each morning.....and yes I did have an eye mask! The garden had a nice set of table and chairs, as well as a bench. Note to cottage owners : Some more small bins would be useful as there were none in the living room or bedrooms. More clocks please, there was only one in the kitchen.

Girlie week awsy
The cottage was in a great little village with lots of walks , near the coast and great places to eat . The cottage itself had no out door furniture except a very wobbly bench . Iam very particular as I like cottages to be as nice as my own home so bed linen not matching and un ironed along with small towels doesn’t do it for me !! The oven was greasy and had left over food in it too ! All we had for a welcome pack was a packet of biscuits no milk etc . Toilet and shower leaked which they knew about before.Although they sent someone over it is not the hassle you want when you go away .
