Enjoy the Oregon Coast rain or shine from this sweet spot on the Nehalem River. The cottage is located in a quiet clean RV park (Nehalem Shores) just a few minutes from good food, shopping and the beach. Great fishing on the river out your front door with the villages of Manzanita, Nehalem and Wheeler are nearby. The cottage is clean, light and bright with lots of windows so you can enjoy the river view and all the wildlife that goes alone with it (elk, sea lions, bald eagles and more). It's a great place to come home to after a day at the beach or a great spot to spend the day reading, relaxing and enjoying the river view. When the weather is rough at the beach our place is protected by trees. Enjoy fantastic fishing, paddle boarding or kayaking on the river, shopping nearby antique shops, wine tasting or kite flying...beachcombing...horse back riding...surfing...at Manzanita Beach. You'll love the cozy feel of this sweet little cottage along with the river and wildlife viewing from the front porch. Hi speed internet and cable TV provided, there's laundry facilities just a few steps from the front door and the locals are super friendly. All this just a short drive from Portland but well away from the busy tourist hubub. Great vacation spot and an excellent value!

I enjoyed my stay at this place very much. The riverside location was peaceful and beautiful. The house was comfortable and clean. The only small complaint I have is there was not enough hot water for a decent shower.
We absolutely loved our stay. It was clean, quiet and very relaxing. We stayed for a week and have no complaints. The neighbors in the park were very welcoming and very nice people. I’ve never felt more comfortable in a place I have stayed at for a vacation. The area is wonderful. The places to eat around were very good. Spent most the time exploring and down at the beaches. I would recommend this listing to anyone. Will definitely stay again.
This was a great stay if you are looking for a quiet place!! Very clean and cozy and the people were helpful and sweet!! My husband loved all the elk across the river!!
Loved this cabin, it was clean and cute just like the listing said. Very small in the best way with just enough space for my partner and I. Everyone in the neighborhood was super sweet and kind. Would absolutely stay here again.
We could not have asked for more. The beauty of the surroundings was stunning, and our little cabin by the river was perfect. To add to the experience the people there were so wonderful and welcoming. Peggy and Rick even had a camp fire for us to gather around the night before we left. On the way back we both agreed it was now the only place on the coast we wanted to go!
We were looking for a quiet getaway and this was perfect. The neighbors all around us were friendly and interesting. I can tell the people in this little park watch out for each other. The area is beautiful.

Exactly as promised, great neighbors and even had the elk showed up
We were looking for a quiet place that was not packed with people.
The cabin/house was quite comfortable and hope to return again
This cabin is in a beautiful setting on the river. The neighbors are extremely friendly. It is a refreshing respite from city life.
I highly recommend it for it’s tranquility and beautiful views.

Clean and cozy!
Everything was just as described. Clean and cozy and comfortable. Nice view of the river. Close to everything.
We enjoyed our time, and the accommodations were precisely as advertised. But the perforce brevity of the hot showers and the extremely small space were not features favorable to the likeliness of our return.
I was not happy when I got there and nothing was clean . ,I didn't go on vacation to have to make the bed and clean the bathroom. Also , went to take a shower 🚿 and no clean towels. Once we got the place cleaned and towels ,it was perfect . I would stay here again .
The perfect place for a quiet weekend away. The bed was comfortable. We did not use the kitchen much as we ate out or had a very simple dinner. It seemed the basics were available. The place is small but perfect for two. There was some confusion on the hot water but that did get answered eventually. The bath house just a short walk away was easily available and had a nice hot shower. If you are looking for a quiet weekend away with easy access to the ocean area, this is your place.
The cabin is lovely as the community where it is located. It was so relaxing to and watch The river move in and out with the tides. Upon arrival we were greeted with a giant rainbow. The cabin had everything we needed to cook good meals and have great sleep. We had a bit of a problem getting the lockbox open to get the key, but the neighbor stepped forward with a trusty screwdriver and got it open for us. We loved to be able to drive 10 minutes and watch the sunset. It is very special to have the river and the ocean in close proximity. Thank you for a wonderful and inspiring holiday.
I stayed three nights at the cabin at Nehalem Shores RV Park. The Nehalem River runs by the RV park which is comprised of about 25 private cabin/residences or actual trailers. There is a community of regular residents as well as visitors with their RV's or campers, or visitors like me who rent a cabin. Everyone I encountered was friendly. The on-site manager, Peggy, was helpful and friendly. The cabin is pleasantly small. Nice decor. The primary bedroom is on the main floor. There's a small loft with a double bed. The loft opens on to the living room area. The loft ceiling is low so an average adult is unable to fully stand up and there's no closets or furniture for storing clothing. The stairs to the loft are quite high and narrow. Overall, our stay was relaxing and pleasant. Our biggest plus was the location. Just a few miles from Manzanita with beautiful beach, shops and restaurants and close to Oswald West State Park and other parks offering excellent hiking opportunities and access to the beaches.
This cozy cottage was very clean. Beds were comfy. Kitchen was stocked with all you need to cook at home, if you so choose. The view from the porch is the true selling pointless. We saw herons, a seal, and cormorants, along with fishing boats. We even saw a fisherman haul in a coho salmon! The community was very friendly. Our neighbor invited us to join his fire pit and we enjoyed the beautiful night. Units are very close to each other, and second floor sleeping has very low ceiling (think crawling on knees or bend at the waist stooping). We didn't need that space, so all was good. Highly recommend due to convenience to coastal beaches.
This is a great place to stay for R & R. We spent most of our time on the porch, watching the river go by... The unit itself was sparkling Covid-era clean. You could tell they took great care, and they also left the antibacterial wipes handy to wipe down surfaces upon arrival. We were so glad to have pickleball courts less than a mile down the road! Once you get off the highway, there's also good running roads and trails. The cottage is simple, but has all you need. We did all our cooking there (still don't go to restaurants). The only things lacking were seasonings (to bring next time!) and a covered microwave-safe dish. We so enjoyed our time and look forward to booking again soon!
We had a pleasant stay. Cute little cabin for just my husband and myself. My only complaint is the beds and the size of the shower. Our first night was a lot of tossing and turning because the bed was so uncomfortable. Second night we slept in seperate beds thinking that might help. the mattress upstairs was REALLY uncomfortable as well. The shower is not for the tall and wide shouldered. Everything else was great and user friendly. I would say exceptionally clean and location is nice and quiet and the full time home owners are very nice and talkative. Loved the front porch.
This is a tiny house along a narrow strip of road, that is part of a RV park. There are RV’s and tiny homes in a line down the strip of road. There are a few short term rentals, but mostly it seems to be a retirement community. Most of the people are quite kind and welcoming. Beware of the lady in unit 3. She has some mental health issue and came out SCREAMING at me right when I first arrived, accusing me of driving too fast, even though I was doing less than 3 miles an hour. Just avoid her at all costs if possible. It’s important to know this because the homes are all very close together and you will most likely have several interactions with the neighbors, whether you want to or not. This is not a private space. You will not have a lot of privacy.
About the home itself. The river is there down below the road. There is a drop off right by the road, so there is no river access, and it is also not safe for kids or dogs. You do get to see it though. I’m not sure it added much to the rental. The inside of the little cottage was clean. It’s very small. The beds are both very comfortable and it is quiet at night and during the morning, so there is no issue sleeping. There is a little bedroom downstairs with a bed, and a loft upstairs. An adult can sleep comfortably in the loft if they don’t mind a very short ceiling. I don’t feel this space is safe for dogs or children, as the wall does not come up on the side and they could fall off to the 2nd floor. Overall an ok place to stay.

About the host
Hosted by PJ Swan
I grew up in Oregon and my husband is a transplant from New England. We both love the Oregon Coast with all the beautiful beaches, parks and hiking. It's a great place to go for a few days to relax, explore and generally enjoy our beautiful state. This photo is us taking a break from playing at Manzanita Beach.
Why they chose this property
We live in the high desert of Central Oregon where the sun shines a lot and we get very little rain. Driving over the mountains to the lush green coast feels delicious. We love how the cottage is protected from coastal winds when it's stormy and the quiet is such a treat compared to busy towns like Cannon Beach, Seaside and Lincoln City. The dogs love the beach too.
What makes this property unique
One of our favorite things to have a fire on Manzanita beach as the sun sets. It's a relaxing way to end the day after kayaking, biking, shopping or whatever. We have a fire pit by the cottage too if the beach is too busy.
