The cycling is suited to all abilities with an extensive network of stoned roads and paths, and for keen mountain bikers, the downhill forest tracks provide wild opportunities with an excellent dedicated off-road area. There are walks with stunning scenery with access to Offa’s Dyke, The Gloucestershire Way, Wales Coast Path, The Sculpture Trail, The Wye Valley Walk and The Wysis Way.
Geocaching is a world-wide activity often described as a ‘game of high-tech hide and seek’, and there are many caches in the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean. The area is popular for film sets from ’Star Wars’, ’Merlin’ and ’Harry Potter’ to name a few. Other attractions include Puzzlewood, Beechenhurst, Go Ape, the Dean Forest Railway, Dean Heritage Centre and Clearwell Caves. Golf is available locally and the world class Ryder Cup Course at the Celtic Manor is within an hours’ drive.
The towns of Gloucester, Cheltenham, Ross-on-Wye, Monmouth and Abergavenny are all well worth visiting, with some of the market towns hosting various festivals. Chepstow and Cheltenham racecourses are within easy driving. Shop (garage/convenience store). Restaurant and Delicatessen within 1 mile.
