A good location but the house can be improved
First of all, I have to say that we are used to VRBO's Premier Hosts. Our expectations are higher for Premier Hosts, especially since we paid more than at any other locations in the past.
Let's start with the good things. The location is awesome, close to many activities and a beautiful sunset. We took several great photos. The home has 3 bedrooms, which could easily sleep 6. Also, the owner was kind enough to let us check in earlier, which was good.
On the other side:
- The home has several (kind of) spider webs, and the kitchen cabinets had a smell (like an old shack).
- The cutlery was old, and some pieces didn't have handles or were broken.
- Only one roll of toilet paper, with no spare.
- No external garbage bin.
- No basic condiments such as salt.
- A fireplace without wood.
- The internet was slow, not workable even for texting.
- The old heating system was hard to set; some of the handles were so old they didn't stick to their hubs.
- Beds were small for tall people (5'10"), and some were uncomfortable to the point where we took the kids' beds instead.
Maybe we are picky, but I am pretty sure many of these are show-stoppers for others. For us, they were, and we left a day earlier.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Ballyvaughn. Ray is a great host--check in was a breeze and the location of the house is terrific-- close to town, but quiet--with great access to Bishop's Quarter--a lovely strand for walking- The view from the house couldn't be prettier. This would be a great spot for a family, as there is plenty of room. We will be back for sure.
We had a nice relaxing stay at Raymond's cottages. The cottage was very neat and clean and the beds were very comfy. Everything worked well. We used the TV box to charge our devices, as our European adapter had previously failed. Great place to stay by the beach. Would stay again! Thank you!
From the moment we checked in Ray was a wonderful host. The house was very clean and cozy. The location is unbeatable--right near the ocean with a farm in the backyard and a short drive to local sights like Galway and the Cliffs of Moher. Could not have picked a better place to stay and hope to be back soon.
The house is large and well located in the Burren region, close to the seashore, very peaceful.
Arrival and departure procedures very easy, the owner was very friendly.
