About this property

Delightful conversion in a country stud with a swimming pool - Stable Cottage

This tastefully converted barn is set in the gently rolling countryside of the Brett Valley and offers a wonderful retreat to escape and switch off. The main residence, Dove House, is a stunning example of a classic 14th Century timber-framed and plastered Suffolk Hall and has extensive grounds. As part of a centuries old working farm that has evolved into an equestrian stud, the barn has been converted in lovely rustic farm cottage with a light and airy feel thanks to high ceilings throughout. With flexible accommodation for couples and families, Stable Cottage is a great base to explore this particularly charming part of Suffolk, or to just relax and splash around in a large swimming pool.
Stable Cottage can be rented with the neighbouring Old Barn to provide accommodation for fourteen guests.

8/10 Good

A brilliant week
12 members of our family stayed here and at The Old Barn for a week and we all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday! We found the properties to be well equipped and spacious. The pool was a massive hit with everyone- both in the sunshine and the rain! The location was great, quiet and peaceful although within easy reach of many places of interest. We would definitely return and would highly recommend.

4/10 Poor

Stay at Stable Cottage
My friend and I stayed in Stable Cottage in Semer and were disappointed with the lack of cleanliness especially with the pool which was the main reason for booking this. I am a keen swimmer and this was why we booked this. The pool was full of dead insects and the tiles round it had been covered in plastic which was peeling away from the side. We couldn’t sit out because the chairs were dirty. There were a lot of cobwebs in the property. The bed was clean but there was an issue about the blind for the window. The owner met us by saying he forgot we were coming which we did not think was very welcoming. When we did contact the owner he did not seem bothered - we had trouble locking the door and when his wife popped over we asked about the shower but he didn’t come round again. There was a lot of dust and cobwebs around and the shower was not easy to use. We paid good money to stay there and we don’t think it was good value at all. There was also a leaking radiator in one of the bathrooms which was causing damp in the hallway. I would not recommend anyone else should stay in this property or any others in the area .
