Villa Zelena is located in Okrug Donji on the western side of the island of Čiovo. Čiovo is connected to the mainland by a bridge.
Come in the high season of July and August and you'll find Čiovo vibrant with life with holidaymakers from all over Europe. For a quieter holiday come in May/June or September/October.
Okrug Donji is a small village and tourist destination on the island of Ciovo. The whole area is known for its numerous bays and beautiful beaches. Light traffic, open sea views and lots of green forested areas make it suitable for peaceful vacation away from the city but still within close range of the full amenities of larger towns nearby. Okrug Donji can offer you plenty of sunshine, clear seas and is ideal for families looking for a little peace and quiet and a relaxing time surrounded by nature.
We recommend that you rent a bike or scooter and explore the unspoiled nature of the island Čiovo, which in the area of Okrug Donji has been especially preserved.
During the day enjoy the local beaches, water sports and the beach side cafe bars and restaurants.
The charming ancient Roman UNESCO World Heritage town of Trogir is only 8.5 km away. Trogir is the best-preserved Romanesque-Gothic complex not only in the Adriatic, but in all of Central Europe. Trogir's medieval core, surrounded by walls, comprises a preserved castle and tower and a series of dwellings and palaces from the Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque periods.
Walking through the old town of Trogir feels like you have stepped back in time hundreds of years. Enjoy wandering along the quaint cobbled alleyways and squares, shopping in the many jewellery and arts and craft shops. Trogir also has a number of highly rated restaurants that are worth visitng as well.
Čiovo is also a great base from which to visit other places in the surrounding area like the beautiful Krka National Park and Skradin. Forty minutes north along the beautiful coast road north lies Primosten, a beautiful ancient 'island' town almost entirely surrounded by water. Primošten is famous for its huge and beautiful vineyards and tours and wine tastings can be arranged. Sibenik, another historical town dating at least back to the 11th century, is also close by and worth a visit.
Split is another UNESCO World Heritage city and is just 30 km away from Ciovo to the South. A visit to the 1700 year old Diocletian's Palace is highly recommended. Split can be reached by car or alternatively there are also ferries from Ciovo that take passengers directly to the centre of the old town of Split with its multitude of restaurants, bars, shops and clubs.
