The sea, with sandy beach, is distant only 30 minutes from the house. (Lido di Camaiore -Viareggio- Forte dei Marmi).
This charming farmhouse restored in 2012, was formerly a small cloister dating back to 1700. It is located in the middle of an olive tree grove dominating the valley and the city of Lucca, which lies only 11 km from here. The owner is an interior designer, this is why interiors are refurbished with care and attention to details, using original Tuscan furniture and aiming at the perfect ease of the guests. The days in Lucca will be particularly agreeable thanks to its many attractions and points of interest: the sightseeing of the town, its unique city walls, churches, squares, museums etc. For those who love the sea, in 30 minutes you can reach the sea-side resorts of Versilia, Viareggio, Forte dei Marmi - all renowned for their huge golden shores. For mountain lovers, in only 30 minutes you can be in the Garfagnana area and walk through its ancient villages. Take a chance to visit the cities of art and the most characteristic places of Tuscany (Pisa, Firenze, Siena, Cinque Terre) that are near to Lucca and easy to reach. In case some day you do not want to go anywhere, you can enjoy the impressive terrace, which is definitely the peculiarity of this house, offering the possibility to stay outside in complete relax. Beautiful views, peace and quiet, regrettably restricted movement after dark due to dangerous road.

Good points: weather permitting the rear verandah is superb for outdoor dining with a fantastic view overlooking Lucca. Bedroom accommodation size was good and pleasantly decorated. Upstairs bedroom windows equipped with flyscreens and shutters. The kitchen and laundry was adequate for small numbers. The water spring at the bottom of the hill was refreshing and provided many a bottle of fresh water. The Bad: on arrival and departure luggage transfers was possible via a deteriorated steep pathway or many stairs through an adjoining private property which proved difficult. Daily movements through neighbours property felt uncomfortable and intrusive. The internal living area in the property is too small for the suggested number of people to be comfortably accommodated. The ugly: In our opinion driving on the access road to the property after dark is not safe and prohibited our movement in the evenings. The dishwasher filter was extremely dirty and was in need of a good clean. The mould around the shower recess was given a good clean together with the tiles on the kitchen bench as they were mouldy and unhygenic. The toilet brushes require replacing.

A piece of Tuscan heaven...

For two weeks we enjoyed a little piece of Tuscan heaven amongst the peaceful olive groves in the hills outside of Lucca, while discovering the history (and restaurants!) of the city of Lucca itself, along with day trips around the area including Lido di Camaiore along the coast, Pisa, and Firenze, historic villas and local wineries. The home itself is beautifully restored and authentically appointed, and we ended each day with wine on the covered terrace overlooking an amazing vista. Our host Massimo was most kind, gracious, and helpful and we very much enjoyed getting to know him. As other reviewers have noted, the approach to the home up and down the winding hills (and up and down the terraced steps between the house and parking) are not without their challenges, but it became easier each day.

Frühling im Olivenhain über Lucca

Wir haben eine traumhafte 1. April Woche in Massimos Haus verbracht und fanden es noch schöner als auf den Fotos. So eine Aussicht kann man eben nur schwer auf Bildern festhalten. Die Lage ist fantastisch und Sonne kommt früh am Morgen hinter dem Berg hervor und scheint den ganzen Tag auf das Haus und die Terrasse.Und zu so einer Aussicht und Abgeschiedenheit kommt man eben auch nicht auf einer breit ausgebauten Strasse. Wir waren mit 2 mittel großen Autos unterwegs und die Straße war völlig in Ordnung für uns. Einfach langsam fahren und ab und an vor den Kurven hupen. Wenn einem jemand entgegen kommt, dann sind es Einheimische, die wissen was zu tun ist.Das Haus ist bestens ausgestattet, die Matratzen sehr bequem, gute Bettwäsche und hochwertige Handtücher. In der Küche hatte es alles was wir gebraucht haben und wir haben sehr viel gekocht. An den Abenden war es noch kühl und da wir darauf verzichtet haben zu heizen, haben wir abends ein Feuer im Kamin in der Küche gemacht, Feuerholz ist vorhanden und günstig. Uns hat es für eine Woche gereicht aber auch für Nachschub wird gesorgt wenn man ihn braucht.Massimo stand uns immer mit Rat und Tat zur Seite und selbst als wir uns an unserem letzten Tag einen platten Reifen geholt haben wusste er wer uns schnell und professionell helfen kann. Ein Urlaub an den wir noch lange zurück denken werden und hoffentlich wieder kommen.

Casa molto bella,dal terrazzo si vede tutta lucca. La strada per raggiungere la casa è un po scomoda molto stretta ma comunque ne vale la pena. Non è specificato che la camera al piano terra non è presente il bagno come descritto nell'annuncio ma è in cucina con un disimpegno prima.

A beautiful house in the mountains. The view is so stunning that no picture can do justice to it. It’s in the mountains, quiet, authentic and peaceful, yet close to Lucca, 10 minutes to the closest supermarket. Great gardens around the house, which are very well maintained. We were extremely well taken cared of By the owner Massimo. He was very kind and attentive. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. We hade more than everything we needed. I’d love to go back to the house again! Thank you Massimo!

Beautiful Tuscan country retreat if it fits you

This is a truly beautiful house with long views down to Lucca and olive groves all around. It is well-furnished and we slept really soundly. Massimo, the host, is extremely gracious and offers many great ideas for local activities and day trips, and once you find it the local supermarket is very well stocked. Having said all that, there are two "buts" to determine if this is the right fit for you. The key one is that "steep, winding, and narrow road" indicated in some comments is an understatement of the case. If you are not an experienced and confident driver with a relatively small car, you're going to have a challenge. The road goes from one lane to less than one car width, there are no shoulders, and the dropoffs are steep. It is very unlikely that a car service would agree to come pick you up. Issue #2, which is related to that, is that either you cook quite a bit in the well-appointed kitchen or you stay out for lunch and dinner (meaning drive up the hill in the dark). It is a good 20-25 minutes to anywhere and you get to navigate the hill both ways. We would go out for the day, enjoy an Italian lunch, pick up supplies for dinner, and head home to cook and enjoy that. (Issue #3: if you are a crazy cat person, use your common sense and do not feed the feral cats that roam the mountain as the people before us did.) Again, we very much enjoyed our stay once we figured it all out but you need a small car and you better be a good driver.

Great Stay in a Typical Tuscan Villa

We had an amazing stay at Massimo's Tuscan Villa. We were close to the walled city of Luca, and it was a great place to stage your Tuscan vacation. The villa itself was well appointed and everything was high quality. The amazing views, and the Tuscan hillside made each morning very special. Massimo is a great host. He ensured that we had everything we needed and he knew it was our anniversary and left us a little gift for when we checked in. If you're looking for a typical Tuscan villa on the Tuscan Hill side surrounded by olive trees on a working olive tree farm, stay with Massimo. One of the best VRBO hosts I've ever had.

Beautiful rural house with amazing views

Firstly, I have to say that the photos of the view do not do it justice. You can see Lucca from the terrace and no matter what time of day, it is stunning. I took photos of the same view every day! The house itself is comfortable, well equipped and is perfect for a family break. It has all the things you need for a comfortable stay without losing any of the character of a rural dwelling. There are three double rooms - the two upstairs have en-suite, and the downstairs one has easy access to a shower room and toilet. The house is rurally located, which means it is lovely and quiet - usually you can only hear the sounds of nature and the occasional sounds of human life still happening elsewhere. Lucca is a 15 minute drive away and there are plenty of places to park, eat, drink and explore. A few tips for travellers: - the road to the house is narrow and windy - if the car hire company give you a big car and you are not used to narrow roads, ask them for a smaller one - the house is nestled in the middle of an area of woodland, so you will need bug repellent - as you leave Torre onto the main road, in the opposite direction from Lucca, there is a lovely bakery which does fresh bred and pastries - you must visit!

Deux semaines de rêve !

C'était notre premier voyage en Toscane avec nos filles. Cette maison, située à seulement quelques minutes de Lucca, nous a offert un confort et une vue sublime. Nous avons pu rayonner sur la région (Lucca, Florence, Pise, Cinque Terre etc...) Massimo, notre hôte a été fantastique, tel un ami, il a su nous donner les meilleurs conseils pour profiter au maximum de notre séjour. Lovely stay in beautiful accomodation

Ou family, ranging from our 6 and 9 year old children up to their 80+ year old grandfather,had a lovely stay in this beautiful accomodation. The house is very charming, but also has great modern facilities like a fully equiped kitchen, window screens against mosquitos, lovely rain showers etc. The view is as amazing as you might dream. The kids had a lot of fun exploring the lush garden while we had drinks on the patio. The road up the hill was a bit scary the first time, but as Massimo promised we got used to it. It is comfortably close to Lucca, Pisa, Florence, the beach, the mountains...would love to come back some day and would absolutely recomm

Perfect Italian villa with splendid view for a relaxed holiday

We are a Dutch family with two teenagers and stayed two weeks in this fully restored traditional Italian villa. The house is fully equiped and feels like home to stay. The very friendly owner makes all efforts to give you a perfect holiday and is very helpful in any way (places to go, restaurants, etc.). He speaks good English and is very responsive in his communication. If you are looking for a spot to relax and want to enjoy your privacy, then this is the place to go! The villa is located close to Lucca (15 min drive) and ideal for day trips to Pisa, Florence, Volterra, Siena, and many more. We loved the outdoor area (veranda and garden) with a georgeous view on the valley and Lucca. But also indoors there is everything you need and all in perfect condition. The road up the mountain is a bit challenging (narrow and steep at some points) but you get used to it quickly after a few runs. We can highly recommend this place!

Total peace, fantastic views

We had a wonderful time at Massimo's beautiful home on the hillside. Fantastic views, absolutely gorgeous in the morning and at night. The home is impeccably clean. We were very comfortable and didn't have any complaints. We took great trips from this location, to Lucca, Cinque Terre, Volterra, Pisa, Garfagnana, Florence and Carrara. We ate at the suggested restaurants and loved them. Like others mentioned, the drive to the house is thrilling and does get easier every time you do it. Tuscany is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. Don't hesitate to plan this trip. I cannot wait to return.

Schlechte strassen

Bei der an und Abreise mussten wirdas gepaeck über unwegsames Gelände nach unten schleppen das wurde nicht erwähnt.die letzten 800 Meter sind eine Zumutung wir sind zum Abendessen nicht nach unten gefahren da die strasse gemeingefährlich ist.trotzdem danke an Massimo der immer bereit war zu helfen.

Heerlijk vakantie gehad,in en rond het huis alles perfect. Werden ontvangen met fles proseco, en kregen van de vriendelijke eigenaar Massimo een goede uitleg en rondleiding van het huis. Kleine problemen zoals een kapotte waterkoker werden meteen opgelost.

Toskana goßartiges Haus

Von der Ankunft bis zum letzten Tag haben wir uns in diesem typisch toskanischen Haus sehr wohl gefühlt. Die liebevolle, bis ins Detail stilvolle Einrichtung des Hauses ist eine große Wertschätzung für die Gäste und vermittelt um so mehr den landestypischen Charakter. Auf der großen überdachte Terasse mit einem wundervollen Blick über die Olivenhaine bis nach Lucca haben wir viele gemeinsame Stunden verbracht. Auch unser 1 jähriger Hund Yalom, ein Australian Shepherd war herzlich willkommen und hat sich sehr wohl gefühlt. Massimo ist ein hervorragender freundlicher Gastgeber, hilfsbereit, immer ansprechbar und gibt gute Anregungen für den Aufenthalt. Die Anfahrt über die Serpentinen war für uns kein Problem. Wir hatten 2 Parkplätze direkt hinter dem Haus über ein paar Stufen erreichbar, zur Verfügung. Lucca, Pisa, Viareggio, Florenz in der Nähe. San Gimignano und Volterra auch in erreichbarer Nähe. Absolutes Traumhaus

Wir können das Haus von Massimo nur empfehlen. Eine traumhafte Lage, von wo aus Lucca oder das Meer sehr gut erreichbar sind, aber dennoch ruhig und abseits des Trubels idyllisch gelegen. Grandiose Aussicht und sehr gut ausgestattet. Massimo ist mit seiner feinen Art unglaublich freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wohlfühlen garantiert!

Amazing stay in a wonderful villa!

Planned this trip with my two siblings and my sister in law and we are so happy we chose Massimo’s Villa! Massimo is a wonderful host and went above and beyond to accommodate us on a very late arrival time due to some airline delays. We should have arrived at 3pm but due to delays and being rerouted through Rome we did not arrive until 1am. Massimo’s suggestions for restaurants and winery visits were on point and setting us up with a Chef to cook dinner for us at the Villa made for a very memorable evening. Toscana com a família

Nós hospedamos por 19 dias na casa de Massimo , que foi um ótimo anfitrião. Casa confortável , com uma vista lunda da montanha. Encontramos todos os itens necessários para nossa estadia. Caminho um pouco difícil para chegar a casa no ultimo trecho ( pequeno trecho). Como sugestão : trocar o sofa e uma TV maior .

A beautiful stay in Tuscany

The two of us and our dog spent a wonderful week in Massimo's house, with a change of scenery guaranteed. The house is surrounded by olive trees and is completely immersed in nature without being isolated. Massimo was extremely kind and available, with very good advice for visiting the region. We just had a problem with the hot water and he came the same day to fix the problem. I would recommend without hesitation!
