The property was amazing. Quaint, quiet, and secluded. I felt very comfortable with my boat safely stowed .vs. attempting to stay someplace where I would constantly worry.Hope to go back next year for a an even longer staySteve
My wife and I loved the property. It was peaceful and quiet but also close to restaurants and parks. The hosts were great and welcoming. The space was cozy and comfortable and our dog loved the large yard to run around in. I had to go to Orlando for work a couple of times and it is a short drive on great highways. We would stay here again when in the area.
Sweet little guest room in a tucked away location. The folks that own this property are so accommodating and the area is safe and close to everything.
We had a carport for both our vehicles and a delightful little deck off our room.
The ability to get out and walk the neighborhoods and canoe if we wanted, was delightful.
We enjoyed our stay. Rental was as described with many amenities. Short drive to grocery stores, shopping and restaurants. Rental was clean and check-in process was easy.
One thing to note, communication with John was great. He was extremely nice and made us felt welcome during our stay. Seems like a chill, laid back type of guy.
However our experience with Carol was not so great. To provide a bit of context, we traveled with 2 service animals. The very next morning, we were going to make a quick trip to the walgreens not even a mile down the road to grab some ice for our coolers. While getting into our vehicle, our first and ONLY encounter with Carol was her yelling at us saying we had to take our animals with us. You could clearly see by her hand gestures and facial expressions that she was angry. Sure made us felt welcome to her property. To be transparent, we did let Carol and John know the service animals travel with us just about everywhere but we thought a quick 5 minute trip to walgreens wouldn't be a big deal. Obviously not. So if you plan on bringing service animals, set the expectations accordingly or you might receive the same treat we did. After that incident with Carol, she did not greet us, talk to us or even introduce herself for the rest of the trip. Totally fine with us. John was extremely nice and pleasant to deal with.
Overall, I would highly recommend this rental if you are not bringing an animal. Thanks again John!
Private and quaint with a breeze off the lake. Carol and John carved out and created a little piece of paradise. We love their dogs! Highly recommend the Howie Mansion tour if you’re interested in C Fl history. Dinner at the Lakeside Inn on their porch overlooking Lake Dora was most memorable. We will be back!!
If you are looking for a serene location close to Mr Dora Historic area look no further. As you enter the property down a winding private street, you will enter a landscaped large enclave with blooming tropical flowers. The view of the lake from your private terrace balcony is gorgeous day or nite, The lake front attracts countless birds from barn owl to crane to the singing ducks, Amazing. The photos of the apartment do not show the charm or details of the space properly. Its perfect for a couple plus or as a bachelor pad. It would pass anyone's white glove test. immaculate. It is a bit of central Florida Paradise ! Awesone
Beautiful view of the lake and sunrise from the balcony. Just the right size for 2 people. Close to stores, restaurants, downtown Mt. Dora, etc., but it feels like you are secluded out in the country. The owners are on the property and very accessible by text, but give you all the privacy you want. They advised us of local activities that were going on that we might be interested in. The yard is huge (2 1/2 acres)
and plenty of room just to walk on the lakeside property. Lots of room for your dog to romp and play without worry of them running off. The owners have 3 sweet dogs of their own. They were friendly and gentle with our small senior dog. There was a gas grill, fire pit and canoe available for use. Kitchen was ready, all you need to bring is the food. Waiting in the fridge was a bottle of wine, half and half, and bottles of cold water. Plenty of coffee. Wi-Fi and HDMI TV were there to keep in contact with the 'outside' world if so desired. A single red rose was waiting for us when we came in the door as a further note of hospitality. If anything was needed they were always available. We enjoyed reading on the overlook balcony, spying wildlife on the lake, and BBQing some evenings meals.
We would highly recommend this hide-a-way to our friends and family.
A note of observation: the cottage is on the 2nd floor. The only access to it is by 2 flights of stairs. It would not be easily accessible to anyone with major physical disabilities. (I did fine with 2 bum knees).
Enjoy, Relax, Be at Peace!
This amazing lakeside great location to go to de-stress and relax. The space is very clean and John and Carol have thought of every last detail to make their home comfortable for their guests. So glad I chose this place to stay for my work trip!
This property has all you need along with ample parking for boat(s) and/or trailers. The dogs are a special treat as well. It’s very secluded as it sits on more than 2 acres and a private lake.
Beautiful property!! Clean efficiency with a view owners are very friendly and love their pups. Will stay again!!!!
