We had issues with communication and payment links for Vrbo. There is no complaints process at Vrbo and phonicalls to discuss were unsuccessful. In this process we discovered that the host's agent was charging upwards of £200 extra on Vrbo for the two nights compared to a direct booking. Again Vrbo were no help in understanding the large price increase.
We arrived at the property to find that extensive building works were taking place next door. Drilling on the other side of our bedroom wall and hammering/sawing heard throughout the property. We had not been informed of the works prior to our arrival. We complained to the agent, BHR, that same day and were told they would talk to the owners. We heard no more. We were awoken the following morning by the arrival of the builders and the restarting of hammering/sawing and drilling. We wrote a complaint to the agent and were again told that they would talk to the owners and builders. Nothing more was heard. Thankfully the builders did not work on Saturday morning, although as that was the morning we were departing we did not benefit from the quiet!
Additionally, the property is marketed as 'newly refurbished'. Whilst it has been refurbished it is clearly no longer 'newly refurbished'. There is extensive wear and tear showing with scratched paintwork, an oven that is not completely clean, scuffs on the wall and calcium build up around the shower tray.
