Apartment consists of a medium sized full kitchen, large living room with built-in library, and medium sized master bedroom with en-suite bathroom. Apartment is quiet and very private. Parking is easy in front of the apartment. Neighborhood is perched on the edge of Tecolote Canyon; the ocean breeze crosses mission bay, enters the canyon, and filters through this neighborhood- as a result, when the rest of the city is sweltering, we are usually quite comfy.
The apartment has a fairly retro vibe; if you want modern, this isn't it. Lots of wood surfaces. Lots of closets and chests of drawers. Big closet. Lots of bathroom storage. Shower only. Built-in library. If you would like to take a book, please ask first.....Full kitchen. Full sized fridge, coffee maker, rice cooker, gas stove. Dishes must be hand washed. Nice outdoor spaces in backyard.
Apartment is higher than street level- you have to climb 8 stairs or so to arrive at front door. Apartment is very centrally located- we are 6 miles from Balboa Park, 4 miles from Old Town, 8.5 miles from Lindbergh Field (SAN), 8 miles to Ocean and Mission Beaches, 7 miles to Little Italy, and 12 miles to La Jolla.
The neighborhood is very quiet; unlike many areas of San Diego, we have no jet 'fly over'. Nor are we close to freeways, trolleys or trains; in other words, you can sleep peacefully here. While the neighborhood has changed a lot, it is still not a densely populated area. The neighborhood was developed during WWII, before SD was crowded; as a result, we are not living 'nose to nose' like the rest of the city.
One drawback to the neighborhood is that there is not a lot to walk to- if you want to walk to nightlife, bars, restaurants, cafes and the like, you will be disappointed. However, if you don't mind short drives, you can enjoy the city and come back to a very quiet and restful place to sleep, uninterrupted by planes, trains, cars, trolleys and buses.
