About this property
Tweedswood - Two Bedroom House, Sleeps 4
Amongst the rolling hills with sheep dotted across the fields, Tweedswood is set in the sleepy 12th century hamlet of Redpath, on the edge of the Scottish borders between the towns of Melrose and Earlston. If you are in town at the right time of year, we highly recommend the Borders Book Festival in Melrose in June or walking around the rivers Tweed and Leader, you can even go Salmon Fishing in Tweed! There are some excellent cycle routes and mountain-biking trails in the area too.
This semi-detached stone cottage has distinctive white painted walls, beautifully mixing old and new, with its original architecture and newly refurbished interior, contemporary fireplace with glass fronted wood-burner and slate hearth. The large comfortable living room and spacious kitchen have more than enough room for four, and doors lead out to an expansive lawned garden, patio with furniture and play equipment.
The city of Edinburgh is less than an hour’s drive away or if you prefer, take the recently reopened Borders railway for an exciting day in the city. Nearby, we also have Kelso, St Boswells, Melrose and Lauder all within a half hour by car and offering a fantastic variety of outdoor activities, choices of places to eat and local shops. If you’re a lover of books, try the Mainstreet Trading Company in St Boswells, buy something you like and bring it back to the cottage where you can sit and read on the kitchen window seat, watching the clouds roll by.
