Please note: There is a river in the garden.. Low Mill is situated on the banks of the River Eden and has outstanding views along the river and of open countryside towards the Pennines. The setting is rural, but is within walking distance, 440 yards, of the traditional market town of Kirkby Stephen, which is well serviced with shops, cafés, galleries and pubs. Low Mill still retains exposed beams to hint at the history of the building, and is comfortably furnished and cleanly decorated. There is a large decked balcony overhanging the River Eden where you may spot a variety of birds and wildlife, including herons, kingfishers and red squirrels. The owners keep the bird feeders well stocked to attract many more garden birds, making for a truly relaxing holiday home. Kirkby Stephen is a pretty market town and regularly wins ’best large village’ awards in local and national ’best kept’ competitions. It is close to the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks. The Howgill Fells and the North Pennines are even closer. Kirkby Stephen’s station is on the famous Settle-Carlisle railway line. Kirkby Stephen is a ’Walkers are Welcome’ town, which is awarded to places which have something special to offer walkers. The town has joined this innovative new community-led scheme to demonstrate their commitment to making your visit an enjoyable one. There is also fishing nearby. Shop, pub and restaurant 440 yards.
