About this property

ANCIENT MANOR HOUSE SURROUNDED BY A PRIVATE PARK, BETWEEN ETNA AND THE SEA

A unique villa in a unique private park setting, overlooking towns and the Med. You can feel the history and watch Etna when walking between the mandarin trees. There is everything you need in the large renovated apartment, even if you can feel it's old.

The house - renovated, well furnished and lived with great love by its owners - is made of three independent apartments and, upon request, you could rent the whole.
This apartment is located on the garden level and it measures 140 square meters (1507 square feet).
It is all on one floor and it has a loft . In the living area there is a dining room with a table of 8 seats and next to it, the living room, with fireplace and a beautiful view of the sea, and then there is a very well equipped kitchen. There are two bathrooms with spacious showers separated by a corridor and a double bedroom plus a room with bunk beds from which a comfortable stair takes to two double bedrooms with a large central hall.
Outside the porch with its fantastic view on the sea and equipped with a dining table with benches; a patio with loungers

Typical late nineteenth-century Sicilian villa, surrounded by a green a private park, very close to the center of Piedimonte Etneo (easily accessible location thanks to the specific exit on the Messina-Catania highway).
A sanctuary of peace at the foot of Mount Etna, ideal for those who love the countryside, but at the same time want to have at hand both the sea and the mountains, and also enjoy visiting the beautiful cities of eastern Sicily. The villa is in fact ( less or more) at :
- 6 km (3.7 miles) far from the long beach of Fondachello (gravel beach) offering several beach facilities. ,
- 15 km (9miles) from Giardini Naxos and the Alcantara Gorges,
- 19 Km (13 miles) from Taormina
- 10 km (6 miles) from the stunning views of Etna
- 20 km (6 miles) from Catania, with Aci Trezza and Aci Castello.
Are also easily reachable;
-Milazzo (from where the hydrofoils take off for the Aeolian Islands), and the beautiful Syracuse, with Noto and its splendid Baroque style.
- the most beautiful golf course in Sicily, with its 18 holes and 5,870 meters long,.
- Etna's ski slopes

Always again
Staying at Agata‘s house is wonderful. It‘s even better than on the pictures. The garden is huge and the house is full of personal little details which makes it easy to feel „home“. If we would come to Sicily again, we would choose again Agata‘s house and would stay longer (>4 nights).

MAGNIFIQUE !

Beautiful Sicilian Villa
Our family recently traveled to Catanzaro to see where my husband’s grandfather had lived prior to coming to the US. There were eight in our group. We visited Sicily after our visit in Italy. Agata is a wonderful hostess and met us upon our arrival. She had a light meal waiting that was perfect after our days travel from Catanzaro to Piedemonte Etna. She had provided helpful info ahead of our travel on which carrier to use for bringing our cars across on the Ferry. Her family home is so beautiful and we are thankful she is allowing others to experience this beautiful estate. Ciaio Agata and molto Grazies for all of your help.

Exceptional hospitality, stunning vistas, and beautiful gardens are just a foretaste of the feast that is Agatha’s home. The visit was so wonderful that we have promised to return again and again. Next time we will fill the home with our families.

Relaxing at the steps of Etna
We spent almost two weeks at this charming property. It has so much space around for our kids to run and explore. The surrounding gardens are not only beautiful but had lots of juicy citrus fruit which Agata was happy for us to pick and eat. We spent every morning having long leisurely breakfasts outside admiring the amazing views of the local town and beyond. The view really is exceptional. You really do not tire of that view and with the morning sun hitting the breakfast table it immediately became our first thing we do - put the coffee on and go outside to soak up the sun. The kitchen (as many others have said) is so well stocked and we made most of our meals whilst there. On arrival Agata surprised us with a lovely spread of local foods which was just the thing we needed after our long journey. The local town is small but perfectly formed. It has everything you need: an amazing butcher, fish shop and a few other speciality food shops, top quality cafe with fresh biscuits and premium gelato was also a highlight (and kids' favourite). There is a more regular shop too. All of this only a short stroll away, we didn't even use the car (but you can if you want to, there were plentt of parking options). The town really has everything you need (including a shop where we bought a crochet hook, as you do...) but is also conveniently located to explore the surrounding area. Taormina and various beaches are only a short drive away and a drive to the airport was just 40min or so on mostly easy big roads (though remember this is a mountainous area so the roads closer to town are inevitably smaller). Agata was an amazing host. She was so helpful and was always only a message away. Her knowledge of the local area was super useful and she suggested various interesting events for the Easter weekend we were visiting and let's not forget her restaurant recommendations (there is a Micheline star restaurant only 10min from the villa which we enjoyed immensely).

Zeer aangenaam verblijf

Top marks
This property is even better than the excellent reviews that it receives. A base for the family of 2 adults and 2 children, it could host bigger parties comfortably. It is ideally located to visit the attractions of Eastern Sicily, from Taormina through Etna and down to Siracusa. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. Agata helped us to find it, provided a thorough intro to the property and its amenities, and also made us a delicious welcome supper. It is very easy to recommend it to other potential guests!

A true Italian experience!
Agata is a wonderful and generous host. She prepared us homemade snacks upon our arrival! This property is so charming and full of character. The garden is out of this world and the view over looking the sea is magnificent. I found much peace and tranquillity just strolling around this huge but well kept garden. Interior of the house is very cozy and functional. Agata provided everything we needed during the stay. It is truly a special experience staying at this place. Thank you Agata! Diana

The Foot of the (Erupting) Mountain!
We had a great stay at Agata's castle at the foot of Mt. Etna! There were five of us (three women, me, one toddler) and we were all very comfortable. That view of the small town of Piedimonte Etneo right on down to the sea, from the grassy area, in front of gigantic doors and arches, will be etched in my memory for a long time to come. As the sun went down, we sat outside and ran all over the place! Once it was dark, we came inside, drank wine, and danced to Edoardo Bennato and Blues Brothers records! It was a fun filled, peaceful stay and provided us with easy access to Taormina, Catania, Mt. Etna, and Etna wineries. Agata is a great host!

einfach besonders

Amazing stay!
The house is set in a huge beautiful park, which makes you feel calm as soon as you enter the gate to the property. The pathway up to the house leads you through gorgeous citrus threes, all kind of colourful flowers and beautiful views. The kids loved exploring the surrounding park with us. Furthermore, there is a fenced garden, with direct access from the house and terrace, featuring the most amazing views of the sea and the small village of Piedimonte. It was so relaxing enjoying the sun and view while the kids could play safely in the garden. The village of Piedmonte is walking distance (10-15 min), authentic and offers everything you need such as butcher, supermarket (with a good cheese/meat counter), bakery (with delicious ice-cream and cakes) and a few restaurants/cafes. Finally, the house is well situated to reach sights such as Etna, Taormina, wineries etc. The house itself is everything you would expect from an authentic Sicilian property; history, charm and uniquely decorated so that you actually feel that it is a home. We stayed for 4 days and continued to discover small charming details and beautiful décor in the house. There was even toys for the kids, which they loved. The cosy living room has a great view with direct access to the front garden, the dinning room is fitting 8 people and the fully equipped kitchen is perfect for cooking your own meals. Bedrooms are comfortable, spacious and a very nice temperature. The bathrooms nice, clean, with a good water pressure and enough hot water. On top of this unique house and surroundings, Agata was an amazing host. From the first contact to the farewell, we really felt secure and fully taken care of. We arrived late, which meant that we were at the property around 23:00. Agata and her husband greeted us at the property with pizza, wine and cake and the fridge stocked for breakfast, which was such a nice gesture, arriving late with two small kids (and four hungry adults:-)). They also took the time to show us the village to make sure we were all set before they left. The whole vibe of the house and Agata as the warm host makes you feel comfortable, relaxed and home immediately – we could not have wished for more. Even our kids did not want to leave after the 4 days:-) So do not hesitate, book – you will not regret it!

Lovely old Sicilian Manor House with views to die for. Agata was so welcoming
The apartment in what was the largest house in town was full of character the garden must once have been superb it is now a little wild but the long avenue of tangerine trees delivers you to ivy covered house of generous proportions the owner Agata was very attentive and provided lovely local delicacies We hope to return for a longer stay in the future

Amazing stay
We’ve had a wonderful time in this very special house. We spent one week with two families here and Agata made us feel very welcome and was always available if we needed advise on local activities or where to get things. The house itself and the estate are unbeatable, the village is not so interesting but is well located for exploring other more interesting places nearby. Furniture is a nice mixture of old and new but some beds could do with an update/upgrade. Thanks again for making us feel so at home Agata!

A magic place
We have spent a wonderful stay in Agata's house. The house is very special, a huge garden, a beautiful terrace and garden for kids to play and for adults to relax, in front of the sea and the village of Piedimonte. Large bedrooms, comfortable living room, big kitchen. Everything marvelous. the house is also very well located, close to Etna, Taormina, Catania, Syracusa. Thank you very much Agata for your friendship and all the little presents, we will try to come again in the future ! Best wishes

So much more than the photos....
Nothing could possibly prepare you for this villa. It is so incredibly special and is one of those lucky home-rental finds where you can actually stay in someone's home and it feels like people actually live there. Not a single thing about this place is generic... The property itself is like a fairy wonderland, in the shadow of Mount Etna, and steeped in history. Agata, the owner, is quite possibly the most gracious host I've had the pleasure of renting from. She provided us with dinner upon our late arrival the first night, and stopped by to check on us and bring us fruit from her trees a couple of times. Three nights were truly not enough and I can't wait to go back and stay again!

Stay Here!
We stayed at the villa for three nights. In total there were eight of us, seven adults and an infant. The highlights: The villa is absolutely gorgeous, it is exactly what I would imagine a Sicilian villa to be. It is very well-located for a Sicilian adventure - with Taormina, Catania, vineyards, and Mt. Etna all close by. We also enjoyed exploring the small towns up the mountain nearby. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well-stocked with equipment to cook, there was ample space in the living room to hang out in (and a fireplace). And the view! From the front lawn you can see out over the town of Piedimonte Etneo and the sea. However, what really made the stay for me was the host, Agata. After a night of traveling from New York, she met us at the villa with a lunch of pizza and other foods. And as we were celebrating my parent's wedding anniversary, she had even baked them a cake and left us a bottle of prosecco to toast with! She is extremely friendly and was helpful with recommendations of things to do and was responsive to our questions. I highly recommend this villa. You will be glad you stayed here, I know we were! We stayed in three apartments/villas on this trip and this one was hands down the best by far.

Why they chose this property

This ancient and manor house has always belonged to our family. It was builded at the end of 800 century and it was rennoved in 2004.
In our beloved house,we spent ,during our childhood, wonderful and long summer holidays enjoing of the companionship of uncles and cousins.
Nowadays, unfortunatly, we cannot have anymore the same long vacations, so in my mind has grown up the idea of renting an apartment to tourists who love countryside, mountains ,archeology, good food and especialy old buildings.
We rent only one apartment and we keep the others just for the family.
My wish is that guests can immediatly feel home. I like to be in touch with my guests but at the same time I am very respectfull about their privacy. I think the house is a perfect place for friends, families, and couples
The villa is close enough to the town of Piedimonte but not in the center, so far enough away to get a good night sleep. If you like to wake up early in the morning, you will be enchanted by the beautiful sunrise that comes out from the sea.
At this point, I hope I’ll have the pleasure to welcome you and looking very much forward to your stay at my house!
