The apartment was in a very good central location for sightseeing, it included everything we needed for a holiday, and was very clean and tidy on arrival. An added benefit was that Raymond the owner picked us up from the airport and gave us a short but informative tour.

Lovely big apartment in a well renovated historic house. Had everything necessary plus a balcony which looks onto trees and a belltower. Great location for all of Carcassonne. Close to the canal and station. Airport pick up by the owner was a nice extra!
The location of the apartment was perfect for exploring the area. Walking distance to the train station, even with suitcases.
Spacious bedrooms and comfortable beds.
We took a local bus to a most enjoyable lunch at a nearby town.
The English language tour of the Medieval City was essential to understand its rich, layered history.
We had come from Toulouse by train and then left in the other direction for Paris via the regional and fast trains - direct to CDG.
Just returned from a very enjoyable week's stay in this lovely accommodation. In an excellent location within the lower town of Carcassonne, the apartment was quiet, secure, spacious, rustic, very clean, well-equipped and very comfortable. Ten minutes walk from the main square, the apartment is very close to supermarkets, shops and restaurants. In the other direction, the flat is a ten minutes walk to the station and bus stops (for the Cité Médiévale although this is also walkable). I would also highly recommend using the proximity to the station to do day trips to Toulouse, Perpignan or Montpellier. The apartment also had a private terrace with lovely views of the old cathedral and made for a great place to unwind with a local bottle of wine of an evening. Richard was an excellent host and very easy to make contact with before and during our stay. Ceiling fans would be a good investment for those hot summer nights. 10/10 and I would highly recommend booking this place to stay.
Thank you Richard and Helen.

Property was clean and very authentic. Fans were needed as very hot in apartment . The hosts very friendly and could call them anytime but did not need to. Terrace was also welcomed and sat up there for breakfast . Al in all a fantastic week . Janet and Christine
We loved this spot. Near the center of town and a lovely walk to the castle. Quiet street and we had the warmest welcome by Raymond and his wife! Delightful!!!! We could have stayed a week easily.
We stayed in the two bedroom apartment, which is very comfortable and well equipped. The apartment has a pleasant balcony, but you do have to go up a flight of narrow stairs to get to it. The location is good, just minutes' walk from the train station.

Comfortable and very tastefully decorated apartment in a superb location.
Raymond is a superb host and has gone to a lot of trouble to make sure that his restoration of this characterful and historic property is first class. It is very comfortable and beautifully decorated. All amenities are provided and the amazing shower deserves a mention of it's own! The balcony is also a lovely spot to sit and enjoy a glass of wine or two. The location is superb. You are a short walk away from shops, restaurants, markets, the train station and the Canal Du Midi. It is in the heart of town through so be aware that it can get noisy at times, especially if you need to have the windows open as we did in the middle of the heatwave. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

Lovely stay in Carcassonne Nov 2017
Great welcome from Raymond, pick up from the airport, tour and welcome pack much appreciated. Lovely apartment, has everything you need. Coffee machine is Dolce Gusto you need to take the coffee pods. Also take a few CD's if likely to have a night in, were a few in the apartment but a bit limited/ old films.Highlight was Carcassonne Cite by day when a bit busier (do the castle tour 9 euros, European citizens under 25 go free, need proof of age), and at night very atmospheric but quiet not much was open but still had a lovely meal. Try the cassoulette anywhere. Good Saturday food market in Place Carnot centre of town. Celt pub good pub vibe, sky sports good mix of locals and tourists.Trip to Limoux 1 euro train or bus from the strain station nice but very quiet. Airport shuttle from the train station 5 euros each from stop in front of the station, times linked to flight times. Le bistrot restaurant near the train station good food, value and choice excellent for last meal before flight, (only small cafe at the airport and no restaurants nearby). November was a bit too quiet and cold would suggest spring or late summer if planning a visit. The Lawrence family.

Great place to stay - Comfortable, good location, well-looked after
Location is grand, just a stagger to the main square, station and canal. Well equipped and maintained and a comfortable base for a visit. Small price to pay is a bit of noise (church bells and street sounds) but can't expect anything else of a town centre flat. The wee terrace seals the deal.

About the host
Hosted by Richard Mallard
After holidaying in the area for many years, we decided that the laid back French way of life was definitely for us. We came across the property a few years ago. It was in a terrible, run-down state and we have worked hard to lovingly restore this property to its former glory. We hope our guests enjoy the area and that they appreciate the hard work we have put in to restore this charming 16th Century house and retaining most of the original features.
Why they chose this property
We loved the fact that the property was right in the heart of Carcassonne, with all the amazing shops, restaurants and cafes on our doorstep. We love spending weekends down on the Mediterranean which is just 45 minutes away. There are many lovely villages to explore nearby, especially the famous book village, Montolieu and Saissac with its amazing Chateau.
What makes this property unique
We spent a lot of time making sure that the property retained its original features but also had all modern facilities. The lovely terrace is perfect to enjoy a glass of wine or simply enjoy the views of St.Vincent Cathedral. It is very rare to get outdoor space in the heart of Carcassonne and that is one of the reasons that we were attracted to this property. La Cite is just a 15 minute walk away, and there are so many restaurants and shops to explore nearby. Place Carnot is particularly nice to sit and enjoy a drink and watch the locals going about their business.
