My family of four stayed at this flat in early August. We looked forward to staying at the flat while we were introduced to Madrid. Unfortunately, we came across a number of technical issues and downed amenities that the management company did not sufficiently address.
Building access is granted by an app/website on your phone, but when an electrical outage reset the lockbox, my family, including two young children, was left out on the street from 22:00-23:00 the first evening. The management company confirmed that the lock-out was caused by equipment failure, through no fault of our own.
At the same time, the Internet went down and the fridge and refrigerator stopped working, along with the TVs and several outlets around the apartment. When we reported these outages the next morning, the management company offered to send a handyman, which we agreed to. But no one came to make repairs within 24 hrs.
When we complained to the management company about our experience, we were met with xenophobic undertones. The electricity issues were likely our fault, they argued, for "turning on many appliances at once." (Americans!) And besides, they said, we guests could have made the repairs ourselves by removing an oversized sculpture from a wall and manipulating the electrical panel behind it.
We'd hate to make this experience emblematic of our time in Madrid, but the truth is we lost a considerable amount of time communicating with the management and VRBO, instead of sightseeing.
