What Wells lacks in size it more than makes up for in enchantment, in fact this tiny city (the smallest in England) with its cobbled streets and market village atmosphere, also happens to boast one of the most marvellous Medieval cathedrals in the land, and as such, has been welcoming pilgrims and visitors by their droves since the 13th Century. Huddled in the heart of rural Somerset at the foot of the Mendips, the city is a merge of two attractive worlds, one of Gothic architecture, narrow streets, pavement cafes and independent shops, and the other of countryside quiet and nature-infused pursuits.
