Eagle Cottage is perfectly placed on the edge of The Lake District in the quaint market town of Ulverston, 15 minutes from both Coniston Water and the shores of Windermere. There is a great selection of bars, cafes, shops and restaurants just a few minutes walk away.

ULVERSTON & IT’S SURROUNDING AREA:
The busy market town of Ulverston is located on the edge of the Lake District, there are many attractions in the immediate vicinity; Lakes Coniston & Windermere are just a 20 minute drive and the beautiful villages of Hawkshead, Bowness & Ambleside are just a few miles more. At Bowness you will find the famous World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, where you can relive your childhood with the tales of Peter Rabbit and friends.
Heading towards the famous industrial town of Barrow-in-Furness you will come across The South Lakes Safari Zoo – just 5 minutes drive away- don’t forget to buy the animal food so you can hand feed the kangaroos and other animals. Nestled behind the trees of Barrow-in-Furness you will find the Furness Abbey Ruins. The impressive and romantic ruins of an Abbey founded by Stephen, later King of England provide a wonderful day out – they are also known to be haunted by a headless monk on horseback!!
Heading in the opposite direction you can find Thomas and Friends at the Haverthwaite Railway Village. Arriving closer to Lake Windermere you will find The Lakes Aquarium full with with freshwater and marine life, featuring an underwater otter tunnel and stingrays.
While just on the doorstep you can venture to the Laurel and Hardy museum, exploring the thriving tales of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, or even take a short walk to Stan Laurels birth place. There are plenty of walks within and around Ulverston, taking a trek up Hoad Hill to the famous Sir John Barrow Monument is a must for the best view over Ulverston and Morecambe Bay.
