About this property
Bank Top Cottage - Coniston village - lake views
Bank Top Cottage is in the rarefied heights of The Banks, on one of the highest roads in the village. One of a row of traditional small Lakeland slate terraced cottages built in the early C18th, to home the Coppermine workers. The cottages on Thurston Bank are all uniform in design and were the homes to the mine workers rather than the management, who didn't appreciate that the view got better, the higher you went (more fool them).
Ideally situated this cosy cottage enjoys immediate access onto the surrounding open fells and the delights of the village are less than a 10 minute stroll downhill. The cottage enjoys fantastic views from both its inviting sundeck and the master bedroom which look out over Coniston Water and the rolling Grizedale hills beyond.
Ground Floor
Entering from the back of the house, through the entrance hall, takes you into the kitchen/dining area, where old-fashioned sink and taps meet modern conveniences such as an electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher & washer/dryer.
The wooden floored living area has two double sofas and log burning stove along with TV, DVD player, and lake views from the patio door. This door takes you out onto a large decked patio with fantastic views over the mature cottage garden to Coniston Water and the surrounding countryside and comes complete with garden furniture.
First floor
Bedroom 1 - double master bedroom which enjoys superb lake and village views.
Bedroom 2 - full size bunk beds for 2 people, suitable for both children and adults.
House bathroom with (half) bath with shower over, basin & WC.
Outside
Partially enclosed mature cottage garden, reached through a patio door that opens onto a large decked patio area complete with garden furniture.
Please note the garden slopes with a path that leads to a viewing bench, ideal for relaxing and taking in the surrounding landscape.
