About this property

Cosy French cottage with luxury bath

Lavender Cottage is part of a suite of terraced cottages at Gites Rue Du Chateau.

The cottage sleeps 4, with a large double bedroom, with king size bed and over looking gardens with a view of the old town, accessed via an adjoining twin room. This adjoining twin room would ideally be suited for two children. The twin room is an internal room with no external window but does have natural light coming from through the large double room and from the adjacent landing skylight. Upstairs bathroom with luxury bath with shower attachment, for rinsing hair only. Please note this cottage does not have a shower. Fully equipped kitchen, large dining room and living space. Downstairs WC. The cottage has its own private front door leading onto a quiet street and direct access from the kitchen to the laundry area, which also takes you through to your dedicated outside dining terrace area and lovely gardens. Electric heating and cosy log stove.

The site is gated with secure parking.

Situated in the grounds of what was once part of the old Chateau estate, our cottages offer a little haven of tranquillity, we think we have a found a place where you will be able to relax and feel at one with nature. You will have access to two and a half acres of walled garden and woodland, offering plenty of space for relaxation and traditional garden games. The site includes a beautiful clear stream, running through an old lavoir, a lovely above ground pool, 5m diameter, 1.2m deep, small boules area, BBQ, outside kitchen, with dining terrace and indoor dining area and cosy fire pit. Every day you can wake up to the sound of birdsong, running water and the local church bells in the distance.

Surprisingly peaceful, but within walking distance of bakeries, supermarkets, restaurant, beer/bar warehouse and a local market. You can choose to stay on site or venture out and take part in one of the many local activities on offer, including the Rejallant Canoeing, Centre cycle paths, adventure parks, local lake activities or visit a Chateau

Described, in one if our reviews as, 'a beautiful place, with a fine balance between modern and ancient charm'.

Hosts Anna & Ian live on site to ensure a warm and friendly welcome and would be available should you need anything. You will occasionally see them discreetly maintaining the pool and grounds during your stay.

Lavender Cottage is available to book individually, with no more than two of our cottages rented at any one time, or as part of a suite of up to four cottages....see our Gites Rue Du Chateau listing on VRBO or contact us for an exclusive whole site price.

About the host

Host profile image
Ian and I made the decision to change our lifestyle and relocate from Norfolk, England to France, in April 2022 and we are very much in the early days of establishing our home and holiday cottage rental business in the historic town of Ruffec

Why they chose this property

Situated in the grounds of what was once part of the old Chateau estate, our cottages offer a little haven of tranquillity; a place where you will be able to relax and feel at one with nature and at the same time, have fun and make those precious memories.

We have four, re-styled, cosy French cottages available for holiday rental all year round. Especially ideal for larger family and friend's bookings, when you would like to have separate accommodation but be on the same site. If not booked as a whole complex, then only two cottages will be rented out at any time to ensure some privacy.

The two and half acres of walled gardens and woodland offer plenty of space for some privacy and includes a beautiful stream running through the old lavoir (former wash house), woodland path, a lovely shallow mini pool, mini boules area, BBQs, outside kitchen and dining area, cosy fire pit corner and access to covered terraces.

Every day we now wake up to the sound of birdsong, running water and the toll of the local church bells in the distance. Surprisingly peaceful, but within walking distance of a restaurant, bistro, bakeries, shops, beer warehouse and a local market. You can choose to stay on site or venture out and take part in one of the many local activities on offer, including, the Rejallant canoeing centre, cycle paths, adventure parks, local lake activities or visit a Chateau.

Anna and Ian live on site and will be available should you need anything during your stay.
