About this property

The Ridgeway - an apartment that sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms

The Ridgeway is a beautiful Victorian property, with many personal touches to create a 'home from home' feel and ideal for those wishing to be close to all local amenities but just out of the way of traffic and crowds.

The fully enclosed south facing patio has wonderful views to the fells for perfect al fresco dining. Private parking is allocated opposite for one car.

The large, bright lounge with high ceilings on the first floor has a fabulous bay window looking out over Keswick to Catbells and the fells beyond. There are two large sofas and an open fire for cosy winter nights, with dining table in the picture postcard bay window. There is a Smart TV, DVD and games console with blue-tooth DAB Radio / CD player and plenty of Lakeland guides.

The twin bedroom with new oak furniture (chest of drawers and wardrobe) and DAB radio is also on the first floor with lovely views towards Latrigg. This room can be converted to a King-size bed upon request.

The first floor bathroom is fully tiled and has a double ended bath, separate shower cubicle, towel rail and wash hand basin. There is a separate WC on this floor.

On the ground floor there is a bright double bedroom with a leather sofa positioned in the bay window overlooking the patio/garden. There is a double bed, with plenty of storage, a flat screen TV/DVD, dressing table and lovely high ceilings. Both bedrooms are dressed with luxury linens and fresh white fluffy towels.

The very modern kitchen is also on the ground floor with newly fitted units, granite worktops, built in electric oven and gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, washer/dryer and breakfast bar, with well stocked cupboards with everything you would need on a self-catering holiday.

There is a sizeable utility room at the back of the apartment for walking gear and bikes, providing rear access to the street.

The downstairs shower room has a shower, WC and wash hand basin.

Keswick weekend break
Great location, well equipped kitchen, & comfortable place to stay, & having our dog with us with Fitz park just around the corner was a bonus, & also the property had a back door entrance into a large utility room which was great for drying off & cleaning up the dog before entering the carpeted areas, private parking space for one vehicle right across from the property

Had a great 4 night stay at Ridgeway, the accommodation was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Will look forward to staying again in the future.

Great traditional house with modern interior
Great 2 bed house with enclosed front yard, 100 yards from the main street. Central location and also close to park and river greta. Great for dog walks and property easy and quick to centrally heat when needed

Weekend Away
Had a really comfortable stay at The Ridgeway after deciding to book for the weekend on the spur of the moment. Great location near the centre of Keswick yet fairly quiet. Beautiful well equipped kitchen. Lovely bathroom with a lovely deep bath. Great views from the lounge over towards Catbells and the Newlands Valley. Booked a number of times with Keswick Cottages at various locations and never disappointed.

Lovely place
Great place. Comfy, spacious, great location, clean and everything you need for a stay away. Only negative was that the property above it had very noisy floorboards, so we were woken up at 6am most mornings.

Fabulous House
This is the seventh time staying at the Ridgeway. It’s a perfect place to stay and all within walking distance to the town centre, lake and surrounding parks. Plus it has its own parking space. The house is perfect for us and our two little dogs as it has a secure front garden. The kitchen is fully equipped and well stocked. Beautiful views from the living room. Highly recommend this property.

Easter in Ridgeway
Had a great 4 night stay in Ridgeway with the pup; great location, ideal access into the town centre. Ideal facilities for those with a dog, the back door to the property gives access directly to a spacious boot room, perfect for bringing in wet dogs. Will definitely rebook this property.

Excellent location
Great location, easy walk into town & nearby park. Great views from the lounge. We found the side access straight into the utility room particularly useful for bringing a very muddy dog indoors. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay thank you.

The perfect base for family or friends
Great quiet location just off the Main Street. Couldn’t ask for anything else for a base while visiting the town. Kitchen was extremely well stock with equipment and there’s plenty room. Ideal for a family or even two couples as two separate bathrooms. Would highly recommend and will certainly book again

Stay at the Ridgeway
My wife and I plus our daughters dog stayed midweek at the Ridgeway. First impressions were how clean and tidy the property looked. It is comfortable and very convenient for Keswick town centre and all its amenities. This our second stay at the Ridgeway and we had an equally relaxing time exploring the Lake District. We would definitely stay again.

Beautiful home from home in a perfect location
We stayed here with our two teenage children and dog for a week in August and couldn’t be more pleased. The house is well maintained, comfortable, clean and very well equipped - a real home away from home. It’s ideally located for trips into town and also for fell walking. The views from the property are stunning. We’ll be back

Ridgeway, Keswick
We were very happy with the accommodation. It's location from the centre of Keswick was perfect for my dad, who is 93, and can't walk too far. At the top end of the road and only a few mins walk, there is access to Fitz park over the Greta river which is very pretty. The accommodation is quirky in its layout but comfortable, with great views of the hills from the living/dining room and very quiet at night. The kitchen is fabulous and very well stocked with all the utensils etc. you need. I definitely recommend this property.

Rained weekend
Lovely accommodation in town. Easy access parking slots need more definition as quite tight. Washer and drier are important in the lake district. It rained constantly on our weekend.

Excellent location
Super views from main window, nice front terrace to sit out on which caught the sun, wonderfully convenient for town centre yet quiet. Slight negatives - parking space is tight (but you do get one right outside the property which is good), and kitchen is downstairs whilst living/dining room is upstairs. Main double bed has a raised plinth at the bottom which is slightly annoying for taller people who want to stretch out. Good facilities, we recommend this apartment.

Great spot for getting to know Keswick
We had a lovely short break at The Ridgeway, helped by some beautiful weather. We found it an ideally positioned base for our stay, with shops, pubs, lake, buses all within an easy few minutes stroll, and more serious walks possible straight from the front door. We didn't use our car once during our 4 day stay! The property was great too. Very well equipped and comfortable once we got used to the interesting room layout and the slightly unexpected stairs, and a fabulous view from the sitting room bay window. If we had to find something to improve it would be the mattress on the main bed, but it wasn't a problem. Keswick Cottages were very straightforward to deal with, and in our limited contacts with them we found them helpful and friendly. We would happily book again, and indeed hope to do so soon!

Kewisk - Smart house with everything you need, steps away from the Centre and Fitz Park
We were a family of 4 adults plus a well behaved dog. The house suited us perfectly. It is clean, smart, pleasant, comfortable beds and sofas. Enjoyed cooking in the modern kitchen. Upstairs bath/shower room is super with a 2nd bathroom downstairs. The boot/bike/dog drying/washing machine room is a great addition and helps keep everything clean and tidy. Scenic views from the lounge window. It is a minute's walk away from the centre, with all the shops, restaurants etc, yet tucked away on a quiet cul de sac with the added bonus of a reserved parking spot. A walk in opposite direction for 2 minutes, across the river foortbridge and we were in the lovely large Fitz Park, which is a brilliant park, great for walking a dog or going to the children's play area. On our next trip to Keswick we will certainly be seeking this house out again.

Great central location with views to die for
Booked really short notice to extend our week in the lakes due to the weather being good and wanting to do walks in this area. This house is great for serious walkers as so many great walks to do from your doorstep without taking car it also has a huge utility /boot room which is a must for all your wet weather gear and getting it dries for the next day. House is in central Keswick so close to everything you need pubs, restaurants, takeaways and outdoor shops! It also has an allocated parking space which again is fantastic and required in this location. House is big and comfortable good bed and nice linens. Was also clean and very well equipped with washing machine and separate tumble dryer again essential for winter walking!! Views from bedroom and living room windows are amazing our only small very tiny negative was the separate toilet to rest of bathroom having to go next door to wash hands. However it did benefit from downstairs shower room. Would definitely recommend Ridgeway if staying in Keswick close to everything, homely and has a nice little outside patio to enjoy the view!
Stayed 2 nights in Nov 2023

Ridgeway cottage
Lovely cottage in a fantastic location. We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Keswick and the location of the cottage and the views from the from room. The are some areas that could be improved. The heating did not always come on in the morning. Lots of signs saying not to touch it but we had to manually switch it on. The bed in the main bedroom really does need to be more luxurious. The mattress is not comfortable at all. Also the tv in bedroom is far too small. The second bedroom seemed a little dirty like it had not been cleaned. It had someone’s discarded fake eyelashes on the carpet which was a little unpleasant. (See behind bed side table) The facilities in the cottage are excellent with all the kitchen utensils and washing machine dryer and dishwasher. Overall a lovely cottage but with a couple of small improvements in comfort would be a 5 star.
