About this property

9 The Townhouses - a house that sleeps 10 guests in 5 bedrooms

Styled to a beautiful high standard, the Townhouses offer you the option to stay together with friends or family in your very own private Lakeland residence. The house is ideal for a group of eight people, however an additional bedroom is available to accommodate ten guests should this be required. Built at the turn of the century in the vernacular slate architecture, the Townhouses are warm and welcoming yet stylish, light and spacious. The houses are tastefully stocked to make your stay in the Lake District a pleasure. Many period features are retained and sympathetically restored, including original floor tiles, fireplaces and ceiling coving. The five stunning bedrooms set throughout this extensive property are each provided with a new luxury mattress, ethically crafted in the UK and dressed in high quality linens.

One twin bedroom is located on the ground floor, which can be presented as a super king if preferred (please be aware there is a £15 fee for this service). The open plan kitchen and lounge with log burning fire is also on the ground floor along with a separate dining room with solid oak furniture. Essentials such as cutlery, utensils, cookware and appliances are paired with indulgent little extras such as an espresso machine. A flat screen smart TV permits access to Netflix, Now TV, Amazon Prime (please bring your subscription details to log in to these services) as well as a DVD player and normal TV channels. There are two bedrooms on the first floor (one king size with ensuite bathroom and one double) plus the main family bathroom. Cole and Lewis bathroom toiletries are offered in the bath and shower rooms, together with fresh towels. There are a further two bedrooms on the 2nd floor, one king size bedroom with ensuite and one double.

High specification wifi is provided throughout for your convenience and connectivity to home. Each house has its own private outdoor area, with seating to enjoy a meal or a glass of wine at the end of the day. The restaurants, wine bars, supermarkets and other diversions of Keswick are only a moments walk away yet the quietude of the fells can be experienced in under an hours walk or a few minutes drive. Windows open onto views of Skiddaw and Latrigg to the north and to Catbells over the rooftops of Keswick to the south. Visitors to No.9 have the convenience of two complimentary parking permits to the adjacent long stay car park. Please note the Townhouses are not available for hen or stag events.

Superb location

We’ve stayed in Keswick many times but this house is the closest we’ve ever been to the centre of town. Great location near the park and with two parking permits included in the price it was easy to park too. The house is well-equipped although one of the settees was not very comfortable. Being able to easily alter the central heating thermostat made sure we were nice and cosy throughout our stay. A couple of downsides - the water pressure to the top bedroom en-suite was not good and the hand basins in the en-suites were ridiculously small. Unfortunately these last two points would probably put us off booking again despite the great location.

Great property

Enjoyed our stay. An ideal house for 6 friends to get together for a weekend in the Lakes. Its very central location means parking is in a public carpark a few minutes walk away. Would return.
Stayed 3 nights in Nov 2024

Lovely place to stay

The property was ideal for our stay, comfortable and clean and in an ideal location. Heating was very effective which made our stay very comfortable. All beds were comfortable too. There was lots of crockery utensils etc which was great. Pre and post our stay, communication was really good and really clear. 7 of us stayed in the property and not one of us had a complaint. Would definitely stay there again

Outstanding again

This property is perfect, it is in a great location very close to everything without being noisy. The house is close to Fitz Park, the town centre, the bus route and the car parks. The property is dog friendly but doesn’t have a ‘dog unfriendly’ look or smell. All rooms are tastefully decorated and furnished well, the house is very spacious, well equipped with all you could need for a stay whether it’s a short weekend stay or longer. We have stayed in this house a couple of times now both as a group of 10 and a group of 4 there’s plenty of space/furniture/equipment for all. There is also outside space with ample garden furniture should you get the good weather too. Despite its vast size on three floors the house is always warm and cosy with central heating and the log burner you have no worries about drying out wet coats and boots. WiFi is also available during your stay. I very highly recommend this property but honestly I hope you don’t all book this house or we won’t be able to get availability hahaha

We keep coming back for a reason.

I've stayed in three of the Townhouses over the years and always been impressed by the standard of cleanliness, the quality of furnishings and the warmth and cosiness of these houses, despite their size. The location is perfect for us and communication with Keswick Cottages has always been friendly, efficient and prompt.

Walking for 7 blokes

Great location for the town, everything on your doorstep. Car parking was easy, just across the road, although on the Saturday we arrived it is really busy and could be potentially hard to find a space. Unloading of heavy items could be problematic if some people have lack of movement etc . Like the set up of bedrooms, really clean and decorated to a good standard. Dining area had plenty of space, but getting the full 10 people in may be a challenge. Lots of cutlery and crockery, perfect if you don't want to be washing up all the time Heating proved difficult to put on, not sure if its on a a timer or that the wireless control didn't work properly, found it hard to get above 18 degrees without using the log burner. The house on arrival was at 15 degrees, so not that warm, maybe putting the heating on for a couple of days before would give the property a more welcoming temperature. Wi-fi was patchy within the house, but considering the wall thickness it was workable Overall really impressed with the property, especially the central location

Great location

Lovely stay in 9 Townhouse. Very central and great to have car permits for the car park. Beds very comfy and the townhouse was very well equipped. Log burner was a bonus for a very Chilly Jan weekend.

Excellent location and space for a group or large family

We were a large group of friends getting together to catch up for a long weekend so the space was ideal. The house had everything we needed and was comfortable on the whole. The welcome touches like ice in the freezer and tea bags etc were a nice extra. I'm not sure if November is classed as out of season, but the price seemed very reasonable. If we were visiting Keswick again I'd definitely re-book.

We enjoyed our stay at 9 the townhouse but was lacking downstairs toilet facilities as a couple of the guests had mobility problems also the central heating wasn’t controllable

Sept 2022 review

House was comfortable for a large family with excellent location to access all the amenities, the bedrooms are spacious and even the ones located on the front of the property, next to the main road, are not too noisy. The lounge and dinning areas are a nice size and can fit the max occupancy with ease. A few points that affected my rating, and would improve the experience is the removal of the kitchen door which causes an annoying obstruction into the kitchen when open, which it is all the time due to this been the main thoroughfare. A larger fridge is also a must with a house that can sleep 10.The outside spare is not very inviting, it could do with a rethink.

Last minute reservation

Had to make a last minute reservation when plans changed and were truly thankful to find this place. Turned out to be all we needed and more. Loved the easy access to the center of town.
