About this property
(New) Historical cottage on private estate in the Cotswolds
Groom’s Cottage is an idyllic two-bedroom cottage uniquely located on a very old (listed in the Domesday Book) private estate in the heart of the Cotswolds in Gloucestershire. The remains of a Cistercian monastery are on your doorstep, while birdlife, horses and rolling meadows proliferate in this secluded hamlet. The old Roman town of Cirencester is just 6 miles away, and the haunt of English Royals, Tetbury, just 4 miles away. Easy access from London and Heathrow. Free wifi. And a warm welcome. (Available for longer lets at Kensington Property Management).
Situated at the end of a long 800 metres private drive, lined with old Lime Trees, Groom’s Cottage is a newly refurbished country cottage situated in the heart of the private ‘hamlet’ of Hazleton Manor, an historical working estate and farm dating back to the time of William the Conqueror.
Children of all ages will be in bucolic Seventh Heaven at Groom’s Cottage!. The cottage is surrounded by the comings and goings of Cotswold life on a working estate - think horses neighing, shuffling sheep and verdant views across the hills. Oh and there is a 12th Century Cistercian Monastery literally right nextdoor to the cottage!
it features two bedrooms, one double and one twin room, a family bathroom, cosy living rooms with fireplace, and full kitchen facilities. There is also an enclosed garden for al fresco summer barbeques, and room to roam for your four-legged furry friend.
The Roman town of Cirencester is just six miles away, with a Waitrose supermarket. while the picturesque antiques mecca of Tetbury is just four miles away. Other nearby attractions include Westonbirt Arboretum, Berkeley Castle, Highgrove and The Cotswold Water Park, which offers a range of watersports and other activities.
Well-known local events include Badminton Horse Trials, the Tetbury Woolsack Race, Gatcombe and Badminton Horse Trials. There are also regular events at the Beaufort Polo Club and beautiful Westonbirt Arboretum.
And last but not least the area has quite literally the best Farm Shop this side of the known universe; Jolly Nice Farmshop is a local sensation, it has a butcher and fish counter as well as a plethora of locally produced organic goodies. They even have a drive through facility! And you can actually walk there from the cottage, about 3.5 miles from the cottage along the footpaths, see the Ordnance Survey Map in the cottage.
