Enjoying an enviable location with easy access to York and its historic centre, this holiday home is ideal for couples or a family group who wish to explore this magical city.
Set over two floors and retaining many of its original features including wooden floors and wrought iron fireplaces, enter into the welcoming hallway. The dining room sits to one side, the dining table provides plenty of seating for six and the large bay window with leaded lights floods the room with natural light. Across the hall is a ground floor bathroom with cubicle shower and WC. The sitting room sits to the rear of the property where you can snuggle up on the large deep filled sofas and catch up with your favourite holiday’s shows. The electric wood burner offers a warming ambience for the cooler winter months and for the summer months throw open the French doors to the large conservatory which provides additional seating and garden access. The kitchen is the heart of this family home and offers a host of appliances including an electric hob and oven, dishwasher, washing machine and fridge/freezer.
There is a door leading to the side of the property and also French doors leading out to the pretty cottage garden where you will find additional seating overlooking a neatly trimmed lawn, small child protected pond and mature fruit trees; the owners are happy for you to pick fruit during the autumn months to create a delicious homemade pie! On an evening retire to one of the three bedrooms. A double and a kingsize bedroom offer garden views as well as exposed wooden floors and original feature wrought iron fireplaces. The third bedroom offers twin beds.
The first-floor accommodation is completed by a house bathroom offering a bath with shower over and a heated towel rail. After a hearty breakfast head out and explore the ancient walled city of York; you’ll be spoilt for things to do from marvelling at the magnificent gothic York Minster, enjoy the views from Cliffords Tower, see the trains at the National Railway Museum or step back in time to Viking York at Jorvik. For rainy days head inside and explore York Castle Museum, York Chocolate Story or perhaps enjoy a late lunch at one of the city’s many independent cafes and restaurants. A little further afield is the iconic Castle Howard, home to Brideshead Revisited and more recently Bridgerton. The North Yorkshire Moors National Park are under an hour away as are the coastal towns of Scarborough and Filey, and the Yorkshire Dales make for an enjoyable day trip. With two theatres to enjoy and a host of clubs offering evening entertainment this vibrant city offers something for everyone.
