The River Chet flows through the town, with opportunity to sit and enjoy the waterside activities. Formerly, the waterway was home to a fleet of wherries that transported various commodities along the navigable section of the River Chet. Today, the pace of life is much more relaxed with a few boats, swans and ducks. Daily boat hire, canoe, kayaking and paddling boarding all available for hire locally. Great walking, cycling and bird watching are available from the doorstep, and fishing is available on riverbank (in season, with licence).
Visit the traditional seaside resort of Great Yarmouth, 16 miles away, with a pier, wide sandy beaches and town centre, packed with activities for all ages. The market town of Beccles, 7 miles away, for shops, market days, cafes, supermarkets, restaurants, daily boat hire and river trips. Enjoy the Lido outdoor swimming pool, pre-booking is advised. The city of Norwich, 11 miles away, has two indoor shopping malls, a market square, cinema complex, theatre, castle museum, cathedral, art galleries and plenty of restaurants and inns.
