About this property
Corran Shepherd’s Hut is a beautiful hand-crafted hut that anyone will enjoy staying in.
Corran Shepherd’s Hut is a beautiful hand-crafted hut that anyone will enjoy staying in. Couple this with the location and you have one of the best wee places to stay in Scotland.. 5 steps to entrance.
All on the Ground Floor:
Open plan living space.
Living area: Woodburner
Dining area.
Kitchen area: Electric Oven, Electric Hob, Fridge
Bedroom area: Kingsize (5ft) Bed
Shower Room: Cubicle Shower, Toilet. Electric central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Initial fuel for woodburner included.. Garden with terrace, sitting-out area and garden furniture. Private parking for 1 car. No smoking. Please note: No children allowed.. Situated in its own grounds beside a river and not far from the tidal shores of Loch Hourn, the shepherd’s hut’s home is the small village of Corran, in Arnisdale and in the shadows of the local Munro, Beinn Sgritheall. Glenelg is half an hour away along the single-track road, and it’s where you’ll find a shop, an inn, and the last running turntable ferry in the world, over the sea to Skye.
Corran is a magical little place with mountains all around as well as an iconic tea hut to visit. The famous Knoydart Peninsula is just across the loch, a boat ride away. There are hiking trails to suit everyone, with accessible Munros a walk away from the shepherd’s hut as well as easier low-level trails such as the coastal route beyond Corran. Due to its isolated position away from the modern world, the wildlife in and around the village is fantastic. You stand a good chance of spotting red deer and otters, keep an eye to the sky for eagles, and you may even spot seals and porpoises at quieter times of day out in the loch and on a rising tide. Staying at Corran Shepherd’s Hut is a perfect way to switch off from the rush of normal life. Even though there’s good Wi-Fi, staying in this remote part of the world lends itself to a digital detox. So, pack a bag of books and turn your phone off!
The attention to detail and level of comfort separates this shepherd’s hut from the competition. The decking outside is very spacious and even though the views have already been mentioned, they are truly outstanding. To be honest, the view from the hut encapsulates what everyone wants from the Scottish Highlands: mountain, loch, river, sea and an abundance of wildlife.
Corran Shepherd’s Hut is the perfect short break for 3, 4 or 5 nights. However, once you arrive, you’ll most likely wish you booked for a week. Even though you’re at the road end, and it’s an hour back to the main road, that doesn’t seem to matter, if anything it’s an advantage! The twenty-mile single-track road from Shiel Bridge to Corran is itself a dramatic introduction to Wester Ross. If you do want day trips from the hut, the Isle of Skye awaits. You can reach the misty isle via the characterful turntable ferry at Glenelg, or go the long way round on the road, which passes iconic Eilan Donan Castle.
Book Corran Shepherd’s Hut and secure yourself some memories that will last a lifetime. It’s a special place to stay in some of the best scenery Europe has to offer.
