Wonderful late May fishing!
White Iron Hideaway was a great little cabin for our family of four. The dock is easy to access and the bay was wonderful for our sons who were coming to catch walleye and northern pike. All of the largest fish on this trip were caught from the dock rather than out on the lake. The cabin has everything you need and more and the hosts, Pam and Phil are amazingly friendly and kind. If you are looking for an easy place to stay that is convenient to Ely, this is the place. Comfortably slept 2 adults and 2 teens and we could have had at least one more.

August cabin week
Pam and Phil greeted us when we arrived and gave us great information both about the cabin and things to do. We felt very welcome and our dog absolutely loved running around and jumping in the lake! The week was spent hiking, biking and kayaking and exploring Ely and surrounding. Great week!

The best EVER!
My husband and I have stayed in many VRBO locations. This was the best we have ever experienced. The house is close enough to the lake to hear the loons at night and in the morning. There are fields to run the dog off-leash. Pam has everything organized, labeled and available. If it isn't in the house, she will help make available what she can. We experienced quiet and solitude which was much needed. With that said, the house is close enough to town so as to have access to movies, music...shopping. I cannot say enough good about this location.

White Iron Hideaway
Our family had a great time. The owners were very nice and personable, but not intrusive. They supplied all of the essentials and the cabin was very clean and well-organized. We caught a couple of fish off the dock and saw several deer. We would highly recommend this property as a quiet place to get away.

Cozy & Peaceful Getaway
We had a great time. Pam & Bruce met us on our arrival and were very helpful. Very nice, extremely well equipped and clean cabin. Loved the lake view and great to be able to have a dock to moor our boat and go in for lunch and a nap for hubby. Saw several deer in the front yard, tons of turtles, snow geese, beaver and a few eagles. Love how peaceful and quiet it was. Will definitely consider this place next time we visit Minnesota. Thanks Pam and Bruce for opening up your cabin.

Great vacation!
The cabin was great and we had a wonderful family vacation there! The cabin was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed. We enjoyed being right on the water for canoeing and fishing. The town of Ely was nearby, as were some good fishing spots and entry points into BWCA for canoe trips. We had nice fall colors during our trip too. And it's great to be able to bring our pets! The hosts were easy to contact and super helpful.

Peaceful, clean, convenient, as advertised
No surprises here, as advertised. Very clean, very well stocked with everything you need. Close to town, but yet still "away". Quiet. Dock access is a plus if you have a small boat, water levels can change seasonally. Note, there are stairs.

30 Anniversary get away
We had a great time. Bruce was very helpful when we arrived. Very nice quite end of the road cabin. Boat ramp was very close. And the dock right in front of the property. Caught 3 kinds of fish right off the dock. Northern. Walleye & asmall mouth. Love the peace and quiet. And the dear roaming the yard. Will definitely consider this place next time we visit Ely.

Ely Getaway
The property was as I hoped it would be, tucked away and private and felt very much like you were alone. The house is on a Bay/creek of White Iron Lake. For the fishing folks out there, it was Mid-July and the fishing could have been better but I knew the timing when I booked . As for the relaxed and quiet aspect, the property have this one wrapped up. Upon arrival our host gave us a very good briefing on the place.and we had the run of the whole property. We left happy and would stay at this property again. Thank you for a great time. Dan & Sandy

Charming cabin near the BWCA
Pam & Phil and Bruce were very friendly and gracious hosts! They were quick to respond to all my inquiries. The house was well equipped and as described on the website. Not fancy , but comfortable. We had great time fishing, canoeing, and relaxing on White Iron Lake after “roughing it” in the Boundary Waters. My husband caught some nice small mouth bass and northern pike. It was great to have the extra time in the north woods while being close to Ely’s amenities. We did not want to leave. We will definitely consider staying here again!

The property was nice, clean and on the lake. The bugs were the only bad part but that goes with being in the woods on the lake. Pam was a pleasure to work with.

What a wonderful place to spend a relaxing week.
Pam was a wonderful host. She went above and beyond locating a different boat landing with parking. We had a tire blow out on the way up and bought a different tire while in Ely. We didn't get his name but someone, that was with Pam, brought out a 10 ton jack and jacked up my trailer so I could put the new tire on. It was a big help and much appreciated. We really enjoyed out stay.

Why they chose this property

3 generations of our family have been enjoying the beauty of the Northland. Over the years we have camped in tents, trailers, stayed at resorts until almost 40 years age when we found this gem on White Iron Lake. Over the years we have made many changes always looking to improve and preserve this for our future generations.

The Log Building was hand built by family members and local artisans. We helped or watched as every log was laid, every window placed to create our getaway. It was truly built with love! We hope you enjoy the rustic beauty of this Log Building and its surroundings.

What makes this property unique

The cabin is only 5 miles from the town of Ely, but you feel like town if far away when you reach the end of Suoja Road. Enjoy the views from the cabin deck or more expansive views from the shoreline or dock.

Start your day with watching the sunrise on the deck and then stargaze at the Milky Way from the same spot. We have seen the Northern Lights dance over the pines to the north.

Explore the river by canoe or kayak or fish in the seven miles of White Iron Lake. Take a walk in the woods on the path behind the cabin. End your day with a fire down by the shoreline making smores. These are some of our favorite things to do when we are Up North! We hope you create memories with your family at this special place!
