Burton in Lonsdale nestles on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Burton has been called both ’the first and last village in Yorkshire’, tucked into the hillside above the River Greta, and at the cusp of the county boundaries of both Lancashire and Cumbria. There are a number of amenities all within walking distance, including a village shop run by the community, a café, a pub with beer garden serving great food, and the picturesque All Saints Church.
Burton in Lonsdale is a short drive away from Ingleton, where you will find the infamous Ingleborough Cave, Ingleton Waterfall and an outdoor swimming pool. Ingleton is another beautiful Yorkshire village boasting some unique shops, bars and restaurants.
A short drive in the other direction will take you to the small, but perfectly formed, market town of Kirkby Lonsdale. The town is notably home to the 14th century Devil’s Bridge, as well as Ruskin’s View, which inspired a painting by artist JMW Turner in 1822. It is becoming increasingly popular for it’s independent shops, and you will be spoilt for choice for places to dine out. Burton in Lonsdale is perfectly placed between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District National Parks, making it a perfect base to all that the area has to offer.
William House can be booked together with Henry House (ref UK39786) to accommodate up to 8 guests.
