About the property
This three-storey, cosy townhouse boasts one of the most desirable addresses in the Old Town of Cowes. The property has been fully renovated to an incredibly high standard by the island-based lifestyle brand 'Jack Thompson & Co.' who have a flair for interior design. As the owners like to entertain, they have made sure that the house is both a welcoming home and a great place for enjoying intimate dinner parties with good friends. It is the perfect abode for up to three couples to enjoy everything Cowes and the island has to offer, including fantastic restaurants such as The Brasserie at Foresters Hall opposite Harold House and Smoking Lobster on the High Street. All self-respecting lovers of the finer things in life should also visit Wine Therapy, the ideal place to try and buy wines from boutique vineyards and handcrafted gin to mix up some cocktails back at the house.
The space
As you approach this three-storey townhouse at the top of Sun Hill, there is a small, paved seating area by the front door, which is the perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee.
Inside, décor is understatedly chic with antique furniture, handpicked paintings and elegant soft furnishings.
To one side of the entrance hall is the kitchen, which was designed by the owner and hand made by a local craftsman, including an island with integrated wine cooler for gathering for pre-dinner drinks. While it's not a huge kitchen, it is definitely perfectly formed for entertaining and socialising. It is also fully equipped with gas and electric ovens complementing a gas hob, a fridge/freezer, a microwave, a coffee machine and that all-important dishwasher. There is also a washing machine and separate tumble dryer.
To the opposite side of the entrance hall, there is the dining room that has a large dining table and chairs, ideal for settling in for leisurely meals that are likely to continue until late! Plus, the sideboard is filled with things to present the perfect dinner party.
Upstairs, on the first floor, is the living room. From the lovely window it is possible to catch a glimpse of the sea in the distance. With a period fireplace (non-operational), comfortable sofa, window seating and chair, as well as Smart TV, it is the perfect spot to retire to when you want nothing more than a cosy night in watching a movie.
Also on the first floor is a double bedroom that has a double-size antique bed, there is a wet room with a walk-in shower, basin, WC and ladder towel rail.
Upstairs again, on the second floor, there are two more bedrooms. One is the master that has a double-size bed and there are partial sea views across the rooftops. The second bedroom has two single beds. All bedrooms have built-in wardrobes and drawer space for your belongings, as well as a hairdryer.
The second-floor bathroom is well designed and features a rolltop bath with a shower over and a TV set into the wall so you can watch your favourite programme while you have a long soak. There is also a basin, WC and a towel rail.
Outside, at the back of the house, there is an enclosed, small, private courtyard that is great for sitting down with a drink.
