Caccini or del Corona Palace
Built in the 15th century by the Ferrantini family, it passed to the Caccini family in the 16th century. The palace is reached through a noble portal, designed by Bartolomeo Ammannati in the mid-sixteenth century. It leads to the beautiful loggia with cross vaults, embellished with grotesques and allegorical figures, facing the inner courtyard and the historic garden according to the typical typology of the Florentine Renaissance. The rooms of the palace have frescoed vaults, painted in the 16th and early 17th centuries, during a second phase of renovation of the palace at the time when it was inhabited by another part of the family. The initials GCAF are engraved in the lintels of the palace's ground floor, and historian Federico Fantozzi attributed the paternity of the frescoes to Giovanni Caccini Architetto Fiorentino in this way. Further investigations refer the initials to Giovanni Caccini, brother of Alessandro and Prior of Pisa. He was intimate with the Medici family, and he wad commissioned by the Grand Duke of Tuscany Cosimo I de'Medici, to organise the wedding celebrations for Francesco I de'Medici and Giovanna of Austria.

Ideal location

The property was definitely unique with the frescoed ceilings and location. It was very convenient to everything. The only issue we had was trouble with the lock on the door but everything else was great.

THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY: Photos can be deceiving.

Good: Large unit (appox 1200sf), beautiful frescoed ceilings, good location, Mgr speaks English. Bad: Front door lock and deadbolt difficult and not secure as two front doors' strike plates aren’t aligned (you must repeatedly 'work with' door to make sure it catches). Common courtyard has no seating so cant be used other than viewing pretty frescoes; be aware of the mosquitos. Ugly: Unit is dirty! Floors, fridge shelves, surfaces (countertops and sink areas), dining table, bedside, walls, door facings all need deep and routine cleaning/painting/sanitizing. Rugs are filthy (even machine washables)! Bathroom has mold/mildew growing grout lines: use some bleach! Most towels are ready for donation; two decent large towels were used on couch due to cleanliness issues. No coffee/end tables at couch (prev review complaint!). Thin, ancient, bedsheet with 4” pockets won't stay on sub-par mattress. Unit had foul smell, mgr never sent anyone to find source. Tried to use oven on first night (no microwave). Oven on for 30 secs; power fuse blew for entire unit with building alarm going off so loudly it roused neighbors. Mgr directed us via phone to remedy problem which involved going outside into main electrical closet for entire building (thus we didn't use oven during stay). Glad we fixed it as it was Sunday and Mgr said ‘wouldn’t be able to get help until Monday’! UNFORTUNATE:PASS

Perfect property!

This apartment is truly outstanding. I travel regularly throughout the U.S. and Europe and typically stay at VRBOs or their equivalent. This was by far the best experience I have had. First, the location can't be beat; it's a 10-15 minute walk to the Duomo, the Uffizi, the Accademia, the DaVinci museum and other sites. Shops, restaurants and a grocery store are a mere 5 minutes away. The property is on a side street, so while there's both vehicular and pedestrian traffic, it's never crowded. It is a safe and secure property; there is a locked outside heavy wooden door to enter the apartment complex, followed by a gate. The door to the apartment has a code so you can easily get in. The apartment itself is lovely and spacious and you will feel like you are in a Florentine palace, with its painted ceilings and colorful tiled floor and walls. There is history associated with the apartment which you can feel, yet it has modern conveniences. The bed is comfortable and there is plenty of closet and shelf space. The bathrooms are completely modern and the kitchen has everything you need. Finally, I must say a word about Lorenzo, the host. He is kind and patient, and gave me good advice about places to visit that are not the typical tourist sites and where to eat. He checked in with me several times to make sure everything was running smoothly. He obviously cares greatly about ensuring that his guests have a good experience. I would stay here again without question and I do hope to be back. Grazie, Lorenzo!

Review of 33 Borgo Pinti

The apartment was a lovely size and the bed was adequately comfortable and I love the location, but there are just a few items that I think should be addressed. The front door lock is a nuisance! It’s not a good system and should be replaced. It was always presenting difficulties on closing properly and quickly or opening quickly, if there was a case of emergency. The oven never did have oven racks in it so I could not use the oven for what I had planned even though I was promised there would be oven racks at some point during my six weeks stay. That never happened. The bathroom sink, even though I mentioned it was not draining properly was never addressed. There needs to be more spare towels And extra sheets left. As it was, any time I wanted to change the sheets or the towels I had to make sure to complete the laundry that very same day or I wouldn’t have clean items to use. The master bedroom is very, very dark. I had to purchase a lamp that I left with a friend upon leaving in order to see properly to get ready. There should definitely be more floor lamps Put in that room I had to use the wastebasket upside down as a little side table to place a drink when watching TV. The TV should be mounted on the wall and the two tables that the TV is sitting on could then be used as end tables to hold a drink or book

Beautiful apartment in a great location. The apartment was quiet yet not far from any of the important sights. We really enjoyed the local neighborhood. I would definitely recommend! Lorenzo was very helpful with the apartment as well.

Perfect Florence location

This apartment was so clean, nicely appointed, secure, very roomy, comfortable and within walking distance of so many things to see! Our host was available whenever we needed him, was very accommodating to whatever we asked, very polite and friendly and even gave great restaurant recommendations! I will stay at this location again when we return!

Love love loved it!

Lorenzo was very attentive with everything. When the toilets decided not to cooperate we had a plumber there immediately. Everything is working great now! We really enjoyed talking with Lorenzo (hopefully we did not keep him from work too much with excessive conversation!) The place was very much a home away from home. Beautiful apartment in a wonderful neighborhood with the world’s most amazing property manger!!
