This lovely community, which formerly served as the hub of Derbyshire's lead mining industry, is now home to three pubs that all serve home-cooked meals, two stores (one of which has a post office), and a charming mediaeval church. In addition to an excellent selection of stores, bars, and restaurants, the charming market town of Bakewell is close by and hosts a weekly farmer's market. The entire Peak District National Park is right outside your door, and there are numerous historic homes to see, including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, and Hardwick Hall, Kedleston Hall, and Clake Abbey. The best theme park in Britain, Alton Towers, is only a short drive away; this wonderful region has a lot to offer!
